Eibon DeKaye...
The history of the one known in modern times, as Eibon DeKaye, is shrouded in mystery. The only one who would know for certain is Eibon himself, and on this subject he speaks loudly but says little. It is believed that he was born on the banks of the Sarasvati river in India; the exact date, or even the year, is unknown. Known under another name, he was apprenticed to a cabal of Indian mages known as the Chakravanti. Though the timeframe is unclear, there is some evidence linking the man who would become Eibon of the Nagaraja, to the Indran sect of the Chakravanti during the conflict known as the Himalayan Wars.
Eibon, proved to be quite skilled with the Entropic magicks of the Chakravanti, and devoted much of his time not spent in combat, studying the myriad of aspects of death and rebirth. During his researches, he encountered scholars with an interest, some would say obsession, similar to his but of a radically different stripe. The scholars, vampires of the Clan Cappadocian, also sought the mysteries of death, and Eibon's sect joined with a coterie of these Kindred to further their onw studies. The Cappadocians and their retainers made good allies for the sect, aiding the Idran in their conflict with the Raging Hands, and order of mages which would, in time, become the Akashic Brotherhood.
The mages and the vampires grew closer together, both in their focus and their spirituality, and inevitably, began the process of merging into a single entity. Eibone was one of the first of the sect's mages to submit to the Embrace, while using hs own potent magicks to affect the outcome of the transfiguration. To his dismay, he lost the majority of his magickal powers, but was able to keep some of his talent with entropic sorcery despite the loss of his Avatar. Though technically of Clan Cappadocian, Eibon and his fellows were the progenitors of a new bloodline, based on the powers of the death-mages and the insight and nature of the kindred.
They remaind closely involved with the study of the Great Mystery of death, despite their transformation, and assoiciated with scholars of their parent Clan right up until the Giovanni Betrayal in 1444. Though he had only rarely interacted with the majority of the Clan, and only traveled a handful of times to the temple of Erciyes, Eibon was outraged at the Necromancer's betrayal, and the consequent slaughter of his associates and allies. His rage was more sharply defined when his presence was reported to Augustus Giovanni, who sent his great-grandson Ignazio and a handful of retainers to eliminate the rogue Cappadocian.
The battle between Eibon and Ignazio is lost to time, but the outcome is well-known: Eibon managed to defeat and destroy his assailants, partially thanks to the entropic powers he was still able to wield, now in the form of the Discipline of Nihilistics. Augustus was outraged, but was unable to apprehend Eibon and his fellows; they retreated to their Middle Eastern and Indian strongholds, far from the reach of the Venetian Necromancers. Frustrated in his attempts to destroy the last of his Sire's clan, Augustus Giovanni pronounceda curse upon Eibon and all like him:
"As ye have escaped my wrath and my power,
now let my power seed they downfall and betrayal.
Ye have slipped the noose of the flesh sent to bind ye,
so flesh will be thy snare eternal.
Cursed be ye with the hunger for meat,
flesh of the flesh ye sprang from,
and let ye all be outcast and accursed by all until the Shroud is torn down forever."
The curse of Augustus Giovanni remains potent; to this day, all of Eibon's Bloodline, the Nagaraja, hunger for the flesh of human beings.
Eibon's presence appears on the periphery of European affairs for centuries, and to date, no less than two hundred Giovanni are missing and presumed destroyed by the Nagaraja elder. Eibon has had a career as a mercenary, working for those who would pay his fees in blood, wealth, and souls, forsaking his Humanity as something to be cast away, unnecessary. He was (and is) known to be shockingly sadistic, even for a vampire, and places little, if any value on Kindred or mortal life. Eibon was (and is) fascinated by death, and frequently performed studies on other Kindred, altering or executing them in different ways to examine the final moments. Despite his many flaws, Eibon was one of the foremose Kindred thanatologists in the world, having extensive experience with all aspects of Death, and frequently journeying to the Underworld for further investigation.
In the modern age, his travels are no longer to the Shadowlands, but from them. Struck from behind by a coward, Eibon's corporeal host was destroyed, though even death was unable to halt him for long. Now a Restless Spirit, a Spectre, Eibon continues his examination of death, haveing experienced it no less than three times, and continues to further his aimes...whatever they may be.
