CHRISTmas is most of all a birthday party like no other. December 25th is the day set aside to remember the birth of the Son of God, Jesus Christ. As you go through the holiday season, remember to wish Jesus "A Happy Birthday" along with our angels. He gave the ultimate gift to us almost 2000 years ago.
The Night Jesus Came to Earth
In the sixth month, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin's name was Mary. The angel went to her and said, "Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you." Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. But the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God. You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever; his kingdom will never end."
"How will this be," Mary asked the angel, "since I am a virgin?"
The angel answered, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be barren is in her sixth month. For nothing is impossible with God."
"I am the Lord's servant," Mary answered. "May it be to me as you have said."
In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) And everyone went to his own town to register.
So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in swaddling cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy, that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you: You will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger."
Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men."
When the angels had left them and gone into Heaven, the shepherds said to one another, "Let's go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about." So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger.
When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them.
But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.
The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told. Why Jesus is Better Than Santa Claus Santa lives at the North Pole ... Santa rides in a sleigh ... Santa comes but once a year ... Santa fills your stockings with goodies ... Santa comes down your chimney uninvited ... You have to wait in line to see Santa ... Santa lets you sit on his lap ... Santa doesn't know your name, all he can say is "Hi little boy or girl, what's your name?" ... Santa has a belly like a bowl full of jelly... All Santa can offer is HO HO HO ... Santa says "You better not cry" ... Santa's little helpers make toys ... Santa may make you chuckle but ... While Santa puts gifts under your tree ... It's obvious there is really no comparison. We need to remember WHO CHRISTmas is all about. We need to put Christ back in CHRISTmas, Jesus is still the reason for the season. Yes, Jesus is better, he is even better than Santa Claus. Dear Joseph,
I had a dream, Joseph. I don't understand it, not really, but I think it was about a birthday celebration for our Son. I think that was what it was all about. The people have been preparing for it for about six weeks. They had decorated the house and bought new clothes. They had gone shopping many times and bought elaborate gifts. It was peculiar, though, because the presents weren't for our Son. They wrapped them in beautiful paper and tied them with lovely bows and stacked them under a tree. Yes, a tree, Joseph, right in the house. They decorated the tree also. The branches were full of glowing balls and sparkling ornaments. There was a figure on the top of the tree. It looks like an angel might look. Oh, it was beautiful. Everyone was laughing and happy. They were all excited about the gifts. They gave the gifts to each other, Joseph, not to our Son. I don't think they even knew Him, they never mentioned His name. Doesn't it seem odd for people to go to all that trouble to celebrate someone's birthday if they don't know Him? I had the strangest feeling that if our Son would have gone to this celebration, He would have been intruding. Everything was so beautiful, Joseph, and everyone so happy, but it made me want to cry. How sad for Jesus ~ not to be wanted at His own birthday party. I'm glad it was only a dream. How terrible, Joseph, if it had been real.
Mary A Brother Like That
Paul received an automobile from his brother as a CHRISTmas present. On CHRISTmas Eve when Paul came out of his office, a street urchin was walking around the shiny new car, admiring it.
"Is this your car, Mister?" he asked.
Paul nodded. "My brother gave it to me for CHRISTmas." The boy was astounded. "You mean your brother gave it to you and it didn't cost you nothing? Boy, I wish..." He hesitated. Of course Paul knew what he was going to wish for. He was going to wish he had a brother like that. But what the lad said jarred Paul all the way down to his heels.
"I wish," the boy went on, "that I could be a brother like that."
Paul looked at the boy in astonishment, then impulsively he added, "Would you like to take a ride in my automobile?"
"Oh yes, I'd love that."
After a short ride, the boy turned and with his eyes aglow said, "Mister, would you mind driving in front of my house?" Paul smiled a little. He thought he knew what the lad wanted. He wanted to show his neighbors that he could ride home in a big automobile. But Paul was wrong again.
"Will you stop where those two steps are?" the boy asked. He ran up the steps. Then in a little while Paul heard him coming back, but he was not coming fast. He was carrying his little crippled brother. He sat him down on the bottom step, then sort of squeezed up against him and pointed to the car. "There she is, Buddy, just like I told you upstairs. His brother gave it to him for CHRISTmas and it didn't cost him a cent. And some day I'm gonna give you one just like it...then you can see for yourself all the pretty things in the CHRISTmas windows that I've been trying to tell you about."
Paul got out and lifted the lad to the front seat of his car. The shining-eyed older brother climbed in beside him and the three of them began a memorable holiday ride.
That CHRISTmas Eve, Paul learned what Jesus meant when he had said: "It is more blessed to give..." 'Twas the Night Before CHRISTmas....
'Twas the night before CHRISTmas, when all through the house not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse. Preparations had been made for the day just ahead; the Scriptures were read, all the prayers had been said. The children were glad they had done all their chores; polishing chairs and scrubbing the floors. Their minds were relaxed, they thought of one thing, the program for CHRISTmas; the carols they would sing.
While many were thinking of Santa and toys, and dolls for the girls and games for the boys. The thoughts of these youngsters were far, far away to a time full of darkness and gloom and dismay. The world anxiously waited for a Savior to come; Jesus, God's Son, from His heavenly home. Their hearts beat with joy from the story they'd heard, the Messiah would come, it is told in God's word.
How the promise was made: it was kept that we know, for our sins, which were many, can be washed white as snow. The thought of a man with His whiskers so long, (Not the one people sing of in the Santa Claus song). But the One Who was born in a manger so low, who had come down from Heaven to the earth far below.
This man did not carry a sack on His back, with presents and candy and things like hardtack. The burden HE carried was heavier by far, then any sled was, or dolly or wagon or car. His face was not happy or jolly or droll: it was filled with concern for mine and your soul. The garments He wore were not tarnished with soot, the red He had on was the blood from His foot, and His hands which were nailed to the rugged old tree; He carried the load just for you and for me.
All that He left were the stains on the cross, to show us our gain ~ and Heaven's great loss. He filled no one's stocking ~ and yet, I can say He filled mine with me, to witness today that some of the burden He carried for me, He cleansed me from sin and now I am free. The man with the whiskers that people now praise, is absent three hundred and sixty-four days. Yes, I am sure that the thought that they had would not fade after CHRISTmas, or die like a fad.
The man that they thought of came not once a year; He could live in their hearts, and keep them from fear. They thought how He, too, went away in the sky but the difference was, He would come by and by. He was not carried by reindeer and sleigh, but angels escorted our Savior away.
Keep the spirit of CHRISTmas and remember, I pray, the real Man of CHRISTmas, our Savior today.

Happy Birthday Dear Jesus
Happy Birthday To You
From Luke 1 and 2
Jesus is everywhere.
Jesus rides on the wind and walks on the water.
Jesus is an ever present help.
Jesus supplies all your needs.
Jesus stands at your door and knocks, and then enters your heart when invited.
Jesus is as close as the mention of His name.
Jesus lets you rest in His arms.
Jesus knew our name before we did. Not only does He know our name, He knows our address too. He knows our history and future and He even knows how many hairs are on our heads.
Jesus has a heart full of love.
Jesus offers health, help and hope.
Jesus says "Cast all your cares on me for I care for you."
Jesus makes new life, mends wounded hearts, repairs broken homes and builds mansions.
Jesus gives you joy that is your strength.
Jesus became our gift and died on a tree.
My Holiday Wish for the World Is That
We all Could Be Brothers Like That.
May we love you as Mary loved you.
May we serve you as Joseph served you.
May we worship you as the angels worshipped you, Jesus, our King.
