A gentle breeze
chatters the leaves.
Birds sing their greetings.
A day like any other ~~ for her, like none before.
Uniforms lined like blue dominoes.
White gloves hold rifles at the ready.
One lone bugle cries out it's sorrow, each note, slow as a tear, blankets ears
and heavy hearts.
In the silence between, nature holds its breath.
A domino approaches.
White gloves present a tri-fold flag.
In one final, mournful note,
a million unspoken voices unite
to call their comrade Home and a young wife weeps.
Little one, Little one, where have you gone?
Your going had darkened the Brightest Dawn.
Why did you leave us so soon, so soon?
Where can we look for you? Over the moon?
On Butterfies wings? In the heart of a rose?
Who knows, Who Knows Where a little one goes?
Where I have gone I am not so small
My soul is as wide As the World is tall.
I have gone to answer the Call, the Call
of the one who takes care of us all.
Wherever you look, you will find me there-
In the heart of a rose, in the heart of a prayer.
On butterflies' wings on wings of my own,
To you, I'm gone, but I'm never alone,
I'm over the Moon, I am home.
In the whisper of a heartbeat he was there.
So real unlike reality.
His memory deep within my soul.
I won't ask him why he'd come
I do not want to know.
Reason go away be blind!
...I meant to say.
He was just as tall his face so fine.
Heaven had been good to him.
His eyes held a tear, his arms reached out to me.
Don't take away this moment Dear God, you've given me.
My mind be still don't say a word.
...I meant to say.
Oh dance with me Dream Lover.
Waltz the waltz of echoes past.
Burn my flesh with lips of fire
Hurry, hurry fast!
Lest my mind, the devil's advocate prayed,
"Ask him why he'd come..").
Don't break the spell! Please leave me be!...I meant to say.
At last my heart had found the words.
My mouth was poised to speak.
That damned alarm. That demon's toy...
In the ringing sound that broke my heart...he was gone.
I loved you. I miss you and thank you.
...I meant to say
We sometimes become impatient and it is all for nil,
For if we wait patiently and say to my soul be still,
The very thing you want the most will come into your hand,
Without a word of anxiety or a harsh command,
So be still and listen to the things your heart can hear,
For they are the things important you can't hear with your ear,
And to my soul I say be still,
So that I may know and do my Father's will.
We need to know Him better today,
Know Him better in every way,
For every minute we need Him here,
Not far away but closer and near,
I know my steps will be easier today,
If God is with me all the way,
To know Him is to feel free,
To speak to Him and Him to me.
There is simply no way to win,
Whether you use a frown or a grin,
And I know there will always be some,
Who will say with a shrug I miss her none,
But, maybe, a few with a smile will say,
I miss her since she went away,
So to me the greatest tribute when we depart,
Is to know someone will miss us in their heart.
Thank you Father for this awareness you give,
While still here on earth we live,
A knowledge of great things to come,
When once again we return home,
Back to that home from whence we came,
We will return to our Father's reign,
I'm happy and excited when I think of this,
And realize this world I won't miss,
Thank you for this mental awareness of love,
Thank you, Father, from above,
Without your love I would be lost and alone,
But because of your love I look forward to home.
It's Valentines Day with love at its best,
And all I can say is that I'm very depressed,
I'm sad, I'm lonely and much discontent,
And words that I speak someone will resent,
I'm tired and I'm bored and perhaps hurt,
Like a matadore gored and left in the dirt,
I didn't want to go out, I'd rather stay home,
In fact to be truthful I'd enjoy being alone,
When this day is over I think that will be fine,
For I don't feel like anyone's valentine.
The cuckoo clock ticks on the wall,
And never is concerned at all,
That he is ticking away my life,
With all the worries, troubles, and strife,
On the other hand you might see,
All the joy he brings to me,
He's ticking the minutes until my love comes home,
He's ticking the time until a dear one can phone,
He's ticking the time until the day is spent,
And I wonder where the fun time went,
He's ticking, ticking and all I can say,
That darn clock is ticking my life away.
I traveled many roads and they would turn and bend,
And each one stopped at a dead end,
The roads all seemed like a giant octopus,
And I became frustrated and I did fume and fuss,
The roads were uneaven and I stumbled and fell,
And, sometimes, I pondered if I was in hell,
I turned to God in Heaven the right road to see,
And when I looked, again, it was in front of me,
This is just life and we all have a mind,
And if we ask God the right road we'll find.
I want to keep God's commandments and not sin,
I want to be on the inside looking out, not on the outside looking in,
I want to be a member of that group elite,
For that will make my life complete,
I want to remember I'm the daughter of the King,
And I will my Father's praises sing,
I don't want to forget where I came from or where I've been,
I want to be on the inside looking out, not on the outside looking in.
You are invited come one come all,
To the great King's gala ball,
Your name is written on the line,
I think that it is written next to mine,
The choice is yours so don't delay,
Please RSVP right away,
I know there are some who will not go,
They are friends of our King's foe,
They were invited but they won't come,
And they'll be sorry when it's over and done,
I'm pleased to know my name is there,
Written in that book with love and care,
For that book of life includes everyone,
And I pray that you'll decide to come.
I'm on the treadmill of life and I can't slow down,
And if I try to get off I'll fall to the ground,
We start out slow and go faster and faster,
Until life almost becomes a disaster,
But as I tread along this life,
With all its trials and its strife,
Perhaps, in wisdom, I will grow,
And I can make the treadmill go slow.
In all things you need to be fair,
And you will find life easier to bear,
In all ways be loyal and true,
And you will find people trust you,
When you offer water make sure you fill the cup,
For if you give half way, time will catch you up,
Always do your best and give full measure,
And you will own the greatest of treasure,
And you will have a treasure that no one can steal,
For it will be the one thing in this life that's real.
It's not what's in your head but what's in your heart,
For that is the thing that sets you apart,
For if there is nothing in the heart just in the head,
It would appear that you are living dead,
So seek out knowledge and wisdom instead,
So you can have love in your heart not your head.
All that I have and all that I am I owe to thee,
For your love and promises from this world set me free,
Thank you for this beautiful day,
Thank you for my work and play,
Thank you, Father, for your word that gave me a start,
To growing an understanding heart.
Little creatures everywhere,
Sometimes, it seems man doesn't care,
Yet, I know this isn't true,
For there will always be a few,
Who do their best,
And they'll be blest,
But, sometimes, those who would care do not know,
And so it makes the going slow,
So everyday I'll say a prayer,
That those who know will someday care.
A beautiful bright sunshiny day,
Has come into my heart to stay,
And the joy and peace that I have there,
Can't be purchased anywhere,
For God's Kingdom is important to me,
I hope it's a Kingdom you can see,
And I know this Kingdom will not depart,
For the Kingdom of God is in my heart.
I want to walk in God's heavenly light,
I want to be pleasing in His site,
I want to witness to my fellowman,
And try to be the best I can,
I want to be one of God's very own,
Here on earth until he calls me home,
I wouldn't give up Jesus Christ, there's no way I would,
But I don't want to become so heavenly minded that I'm no earthly good.
I look forward to that break,
When a holiday we can take,
We'll do whatever we want to do,
And have lunch with dessert too,
We'll talk and laugh and have such fun,
We'll feel sad when it's over and done,
But then we'll look forward to when,
We can get together and have fun again.
Dear friend I have written a poem so I can convey,
I think you're outstanding in a special way,
You are unselfish, generous and kind,
A friend like you is hard to find,
God must think me special to give me a friend like you,
For you have helped me hard times through,
Now I'm going on a trip you see,
And I'm taking the memory of you with me,
You are much like a precious gemstone,
That I'll keep in my heart until I return home.
Whatever I wanted I always obtained,
Maybe it was nothing ventured nothing gained,
Many times I ventured and many paths I crossed,
But some said nothing ventured there would be nothing lost,
It all depends on the view you take,
Of what you lose or what you make,
Some say that I always got,
But didn't ask if I thought I could not,
I wonder really was it such,
That I simply didn't want too much,
Or was it the other way around,
Whatever I wanted I always found.
I wonder if in Heaven they have mail call everyday,
And an angel comes to read what loved ones had to say,
Sammy your wife still misses you in spite of faults you had,
And knowing how things might have been that's what makes her sad,
And Sandy your husband married your friend who was kind,
He was so very lonely when you left him behind,
And Heather your mommy has lots of faith and is trying hard to find,
Some joy and happiness in life's daily grind,
I know that you would be proud of her and the things she's trying to do,
And I wonder when we are laughing are you laughing too?
And the angel closes the mail call with this thought everyday,
Your loved ones are doing fine and remember you when they pray.
Shared Problems
It isn't the mountains ahead that wear you out, it's that grain of sand in your shoe,
If you think about that line you will realize it's true.
For the big things in life we seem to endure,
Bur those small daily problems are the things, for sure,
That seem to really get us down,
And really makes our faces frown,
One small ant can't kill a large beast,
But a million small ants could have a big feast,
And in life we must learn the small things to bear,
And with our friends our big problems share.
Man and God
If I enjoy man made things on earth,
Think of the joy at my heavenly birth,
If man can do this what can God do,
Thins undreamed for me and you,
Peace and joy forever untold,
And better, yet, we'll never grow old,
Oh what glorious things will be mine,
Forever and ever and for all time.
Ice Rink
To the ice rink I thought I would go,
To see if I could win, place, or show,
Well, I really showed myself as I glided on the ice,
And I know that you are thinking, my how nice,
If I say no more you might think that I'm really neat,
But the truth is I glided on my seat,
So I'm convinced ice skaing just won't be my career,
As you're supposed to skate upon your feet and not upon your rear.
A little spirit came to earth and how he did babble and coo,
I only wish you could understand what he was telling you,
But time marched on as time must do,
And he no longer did babble and coo,
Then he learned to talk as we all do,
But by then forgot the things he knew,
If only we could understand that little cooing then,
But by the time they learn to talk they can't remember when,
they sat by our Father's side so far up above,
The only thing that they retain is our Father's love,
I guess that's the way it's meant to be,
As it was with you and me,
We know so much when we come here,
We know things that are so dear,
But by the time we can communicate,
It is just a bit too late,
For all the things little spirit knew,
Unfortunately, he forgot them too.
I wish people loved me just for what I am, not for what they see,
For I'm just another human and simple as I can be,
I'm no mystery or enigma,
And I would resent such a stigma,
If you canlove only what you see,
I hope you will look into the heart of me.
There is a mystery about this ring,
When you see or touch it your heart will sing,
And no matter what you do,
It will become such a part of you,
That if it is ever lost,
You will replace it, whatever the cost,
So enjoy the beauty of this name,
And know forever He is the same.
God never sleeps, He is always there,
And, I know, He does hear every prayer,
He watches over us day and night,
When we're trying to do what's right,
But, remember satan's busy too,
Putting obstacles in front of you,
Trust in God to keep your life on the level,
But, remember, satan is busy as the devil.
There is joy in doing good things each day,
And there's so much we can do as we go on our way,
When I do for Jesus and others I can see,
All the times God's blessings are returned to me,
A better investment couldn't be found,
For a better return just isn't around,
There is joy in everything you do,
For Jesus, others and also you.
Thanksgiving is a time of cheer,
And we gather with those so dear.
We usually have turkey and dressing,
But being together is the real blessing.
It seems, however, it would not matter,
If there was no turkey on the platter,
For just being together can be a ball,
And I wish a Happy Thanksgiving to you all!
If guess, sometimes, I wonder would I be missed if I were gone,
Or when people spoke of me would they say, "no I miss her none."
I think the greatest thing that I could leave behind,
Would be a tender loving thought in somebody's mind,
And when St. Peter asked do youhave a recommendation to get in,
I could with confidence, reply yes, I am missed on earth where I have been.
A smallboy had a puppy he didn't know how to love,
Carelessly he killed it, then he cried to God, above.
But no matter how he cried or what he said,
His little puppy was lying dead.
Sometimes we kill what we love and then we cry and fret,
It is then we have no choice but to live with our regret.
So guard the things that you hold dear,
And you won't have to live with fear.
Or worry when you go to bed,
And wonder why is my puppy dead?
For love is like a precious pet,
And its death you won't forget.
True love cannot be bought or sold,
Not with silver, not with gold,
And, no matter, how beautiful or fair,
Of love, you maynot get your share,
You may be very sweet and kind,
And you may have a brilliant mind,
But a true love might not be your fate,
Or a true partner might not be your mate,
You may have humor and style,
And, yet, get cheated all the while,
So, remember, when you look around,
Be happy in what joy you've found,
Don't keep searching for perfection,
Or youmight be like one at election,
You may think a perfect one you'll choose,
And be disappointed when you lose.
When I'm without money I call that broke,
And it does happen to many folk,
But broke is something that can easily be changed,
It's not a state in which I'd remain,
To be without God I call that poor,
And that is something I could not endure,
I think one thing you may easily see,
Poverty is not for me,
So to be poor I would not allow,
NOt in the future, the past or now,
Now the one thing of which I am sure,
I may be broke but I'll never be poor.
I knew him when he was a lad,
And I knew her when she was really bad,
I knew them when they were poor,
I knew her when she had no allure,
I knew her when she cried a lot,
I knew them when they didn't have a pot,
I guess it's good to know where we've been,
And people say I knew them when.
Don't worry about tomorrow,
For it may bring you sorrow,
Don't think about yesterday,
For that time has passed away,
No way can you live two days at once,
And to try would make you a dunce,
So I'll get through this day just fine,
For I can only live one day at a time.
You must do all you can,
For your fellowman,
Then rest in peace,
When this life shall cease,
Knowing that you did fulfill,
Your Father's Will.
Sometimes, we cannot find the way,
To say the things we'd like to convey,
To our friends that we do love,
Who are our blessings from above,
Friends who are there in times of sorrow,
Friends from whom their strength we borrow,
Then, someday, when sorrow is there,
We repay them with our love and care,
And knowing all will be just right,
In our daily human fight,
We are aware in love we abide,
Knowing God is on our side.
I have a gift from God called peace,
And it is mine until my life shall cease,
It is the dearest thing in life,
It help me bear this earthly strfe,
So this day I'll not know fear,
And as I grow older every year,
I know this gift of peace divine,
Will forever and ever be mine.
