All My Life

By: Bridget Leigh

You existed in another world
While I waited here for you.
Patient, quiet, and resolute,
Saving all my love for you.

You wandered each continent
Playing your worldly games.
You didn't dare look in the mirror
To see the loneliness and shame.

You searched your entire life
For the meaning to that word - love.
Yearning for someone to care
Bringing you faith from above.

You dragged yourself back home
A broken, disillusioned man.
Your eyes flooded with tears
As I gently reached out my hand.

I told you I'd wait forever
And that my love would always be true.
I waited forever for you to say,
"I've searched all my life for you."
