My Knight's Quest

By: Lady Cinderella

KNIGHT:

My lonely troubadour,
what hangs your heart so?
Forgive me my absence
How long must this Knight wait?
While troubadours will languish
in the agonies of their adoration
for those that they have given their love to,
I will continue on the quest
that drives me forever on.
And you my sweet will be forgotten,
unless word is sent soon.

MAIDEN:

I know I neglected such rap attention
from one so noble and true as you
Though I wanted my words
to wrap around your shiny armor
And carry you away
With its warm embrace
But then again,
I stop and hesitate
And here I am humbled...
Why is me for such admiration?
My mind languish and ponders
why this is so I have done naught
Fore this knight to want me so

MINSTREL:

Ah, but it is he, who dreams of you
in the cold night aire
around the campfire
that is fed with green oak
from the woods across the silvery lake
He peers into his helmet
thinking only of you
as he polishes it with
the ends of his woven shirt He can only hope you will be there
for him when he comes to embrace you
Yet, too many hours pass with
your name upon his parched lips
from the many miles he travels
for he longs your quenching desire

MAIDEN:

Nay, I saw him but yesterday
By the Sileste river’s edge
The one a Knight must
Touch for destiny’s nudge?
Alone but in reverie, stoic, yet soft
This knight held a rose
Tightly in his callused hands
The blood red rose petals
All upon the forest floor
Yet one petal still hung
There upon the core
Then the knight looked far ashore
His eyes held their gaze
Upon his thought he did see
Of what I did not know
Tis this destiny alas it must be
A quest he must take
Led from his heart
To a land faraway....

MINSTREL:

Oh, indeed you’ve seen him
in the eyes of his dreams
while his heart beats in slow pulses
beneath the Sycamore trees
Those rose petals fell as his passion
lured him deeper with you
The last petal was your kiss
to take him to your breasts
where every night he envisions
your lips, your eyes, your body
The morning air’s mist carries
your name as he awakens
from loving you in his sleep with
the restless leaves as his bed

MAIDEN:

Yes the dream foretold me what is to come
Whilst making love our souls embraced
I saw fighting imagery of my knight’s fate
I cry, "Nay my knight do not return
to your brutal and hostile birthplace!"
The words are garbled when I arise
At first mornings light
I hurry to the sycamore tree.
The shadows cast are strange enough
but when I caress those rusty leave-scattered bed
my knight entrusted
The visions again unfold to me:
I see it clear, my knight’s deed
And for a time I must wait
I read the dried rose-petals which foretold
What in the dreams he told me before
The words I read on folded petals,
Our love yet fulfilled and yet still...
"God’s speed sir Knight!"
My heart sings to you
and when you return
We will make it true.

KNIGHT:

Autumn whispered day and night
the heavens’ stillness
mesmerize me, I ponder on your ruby lips
my dove with rosy cheeks...
the stars are not near as bright as
your beautiful sapphire eyes
that captivated me so many moons ago
my promise is to return to you
it is cold here. we have little clothing
and the fire goes out too quickly
because of the chilled winds
yet, my dove, when I am envisioning
you, your love provides me warmth
I am there with you, my dove
as you are here with me.

MAIDEN:

My lips bruised from
Dream-Knight kisses
My yearning is not extinguished
My Knight,
Who shares my soul
How shall survive if you die?
I cannot,
Fore I shall lose me inside
Forever seared by your heart
And the wind blown cinders
Whisper I will love no other.
Make haste, I shall flee
To your side on my steed
Together we fight
For in the end,
If I die
Let it be in your arms
or that you die at my side
Our love will be carried beyond
From the battle of McNonde.
