Ocean's Breeze

By: James Ihrke

Dawn, with her rose red fingers...
rose to the sky with a firey hue...
creating a scene of contentional bliss...
the dew-lapped flowers glisten in the air
and the salty smell of the sea
fills my nostrils...

But one came to my attention...
as I sat on that lonely pier
the water seems to cascade forever...
flowing endlessly...
meeting nothingness...

Until I saw a disturbance in one of the waves...
a ray of sunshine seemed to have taken form
a bolt of light...
ravishing the land with untamed beauty...

There stood, in mine eyes... the view of the night
in the midst of the day...
A thousand stars... in two eyes...
casting upon me my own shadow,
so luminous was her beauty...
even in night does her light prevail...

I wished to gaze forever upon that light...
but it continued to playfully tease the waves...
daring to come and extinguish her light...
eyes dancing like sapphires glistening in the sun... The waves did occasionally hit her...
and did cause her light to dim...
but then only did she burn brighter...
more luminous, more beautiful...

It was then... that I saw a beauty that I would wait
an eternity with my arms wide open to recieve....
