Red-Headed Girl

By: Tara McCulloch

Underneath the apple tree

Where summer passions still run wild

Lays a day-dreaming red-headed girl

With liquid eyes and a heart that's mild.

Beneath every layer of skin

Is a red-hot blood waiting for soul

She has so many skeletons in her mind

A thousand secrets that go untold.

Her skin all porcelain smiles

Her eyes so dear, her hair like wire

She's seen more than you ever will

And now her sullen eyes are tired.

Mother nature senses her thoughts

An orange cloud of past regrets

She's the child who creates herself.

She's the child no one forgets.
