This episode has two separate plots. The main plot involves the Doctor creating his very own 'holofamily.' He invites B'Elanna and Kes to come to dinner with them. B'Elanna informs the good ole doc that his family is nothing like a real one. She tweeks the program to create a busy wife who is less than doting, a son who thinks he's a Klingon, and an annoying, whiny daughter. There is an unexpected turn when Belle, the Doc's daughter, suffers an accident that turns out to be fatal. The sub-plot involves the crew finding a group of edies that exist in space, subspace, and some area in between. Thhey discover that they could get valuable supplies from the edies' residual energy. Tom takes a shuttle in and winds up being pulled into the space between spaces. Fear not. He gets out okay. Now, the review... the Doctor is EXCELLENT. Robert Picardo is so good at the role. The death scene on the part of 'Belle' is surprisingly good, given how annoying she is in the earlier parts of the episode. Fortunately for us, the viewers, the writers decided to give a great dramatic role to a great actor. The Tom/B'Elanna flirtations are appreciated as well. :) This episode is sad, but wonderful. It gets a 10, all the way.
