The Grammys

AT THIS YEAR'S 40TH ANNUAL GRAMMY AWARDS, HANSON RECIVED THREE NOMINATIONS: BEST NEW ARTIST, BEST VOCAL PERFORMANCE BY A POP DUO OR GROUP AND RECORD OF THE YEAR.
HANSON NOW TELLS OF THEIR GRAMMY EXPERIENCE

"It was pretty wild just getting to go to Radio City Music Hall," says Taylor. "It's an awsome venue. I wanna play there again someday."

As you probably already know, the band performed a revved-up version of "MMMBop" during the show, wowing audience members and critics alike with their harmonies and tight musicianship.

What you may not know is the band had origianlly wanted to play a different song. "We thought we might play 'Weird'," says Taylor. "But the Grammy people said we had to play the single we were nominated for."

"We were a little bummed about that at first," says Zac, "But it turned out to be cool 'cause a lot of the people in the audience had never seen us play."

Interestingly, some of the highlights of Ike, Taylor and Zac's evening was meeting celebrities like Mike Myers and Jewel backstage.

"Mike was really funny," says Taylor. "He was just goofing off the whole time. Jewel was pretty quiet. She's very nice, though."
After the festivities, Hanson opted not to attend any of the much-hyped after parties, dashing off instead to Planet Hollywood for their own private celebration.
"The thing about those after-parties is they're crammed with press people," says Taylor. "They squish hundreds of people into one room-and you've got to meet all the people you've been trying to avoid all year," continues Zac. "It's kind of an industry party, really."
Awards or no awards, the guys had a grand old time, overall. In the words of Ike, "It was just an honor to to be nominted for the awards and invited to play on the show. I mean, one year you're you're watching the Grammy Awards on TV and the next year you're there-in the audience-with three nominations. It was not too shabby."
