Ex-Boyfriend

EX-BOYFRIEND

If you know me so well,
then explain me to myself.
Because all it seems to me,
is that you're trying to make me someone else.

You act like you benefit,
from everything I say.
If you ever get famous,
remember who helped you on your way.

Don't try to get philosophical,
don't act "Holier than thee."
Because I think we both know,
you're not as deep as me.

Perhaps this sounds somewhat harsh,
but you've made me question who I am.
And I despise this feeling,
because you don't really give a damn.

All you want is someone,
who'll go head-over-heels for you.
But that's not who I am,
that's not something I can do.

You say to let things happen,
relax and enjoy life as it passes.
But I can't stand to watch my life go by,
as another one in the masses.

It's like the loser who wins,
that's what success is to you.
To me it's the winner,
who strived to make it through.

I guess I'm rather angry,
at all the things you've said.
Even though it's not what you meant,
my eyes are still flashing red.

Sad when you said it,
frustrated as I reflect.
How can I explain this,
when I already know it's effect?

We're just too opposite of one another,
that to stay as one.
We're the photo finish,
that can't decide who won.

You say "I'm" what broke us apart,
that I push myself to much.
I say it's "us", that broke us,
we've got personalities neither of us can touch.
