Vampires

VAMPIRES

Father of darkness,
mother of night.
Unnatural coldenss,
now seems so right.
Kisses of daggers,
eyes uncaring gleam.
Nightly avengers,
for death's silent dream.

But could you end my pain?
Through you could I start again?

Cold hearted,
but passion never dies.
Drinking, lips parted,
living in the lies.
Lap up the wine of life,
ecstacy untold.
Bitter and sweet strife,
the forgotten ways of old.

Could you make it right?
Lead me through the faded light?

Life in the dark,
froze in time.
Stopped on a mark,
unchanging frame of mind.
Life is against them,
though they don't know why.
Some say it's to free them,
but it only makes them die.

Could you be free, in captivity?
If you contain them, what will they be?

Freedom is a gift,
made to be eternal.
But power will shift,
dreams lost within a journal.
Tell them to decide,
what will be their pleasure.
But if you preside,
it will instead be torture.
