Holy Days or Holidays

If you look at the origin of the word "holiday", it comes from the words holy and day. Therefore, there is not really a difference between the meanings of the two, holy days and holidays. But I am going to use them differently for clarity's sake. When I say holydays, I will be refering to the commanded feasts in the Bible. When I use holidays, I will be speaking of the days celebated by Christendom today. This is not to say that one word is better than the other, but rather to make a difference, a seperation if you will, to differentiate between them.

Holy Days

Having gotten this far, you know that I do celebrate the feasts in the Bible, so I am not going to argue the case for whether or not to observe the commanded feasts of G-d but rather how I celebrate them.

Sabbath
Shabbat
New Moon
Rosh Chodesh

Spring Feasts Fall Feasts
Passover
Pesach
Trumpets
Rosh HaShannah
Firstfruits
Yom HaBikkurim
Atonement
Yom Kippur
Weeks
Shavuot
Tabernacles
Sukkot

Holidays

My intention is not to offend my christian friends or imply changes they should make. I am not the Holy Spirit or their conscience. I simply want to explain why I do not celebrate these holidays and let them decide for themselves if this information has any merit in their lives.

Valentine's Day Easter
St. Patrick's Day Halloween
April Fool's Day Christmas
