Past Events
A public meeting was called for November 9, 1997. Over 100 concerned citizens attended. Many idea's were discussed and implemented. A group of about 30 was formed from this initial meeting. At our third meeting a Steering Committee was formed.
To date we have organized 5 major events that have helped keep the issue of quality education in the forefront.
November 14- protest march at Ron Johnson's office
November 21- Candlelight vigil At B.C.I. highschool
November 26-Candlelight vigil at P.J. Highschool
January 22- The Law and Bill 160 with guest speaker Gordon Cudmore
April 30, 1998 A panel discussion featuring Brendan Ryan a former Director of Education, Dave Levac a principal from a local school, as well as Susan Swackhammer a teacher from our community.
It is our intention to have a series of these panel
discussions and to continue to inform the public on educational issues . Our focus will change according to local and/or provincial needs.
