March 1999 Cheviot, Ohio (Issued Monthly) Issue 497

From the President

First, I would like to thank Jerry Niebling and the other officers and board members for the past year of dedicated service. We assure our members that Jerry will continue to work closely with me throughout the coming year. I would also like the say what an honor it is to be president of our organization. Our officers and board members are committed to enhancing existing programs and developing new ones. To accomplish these ends, I will be looking for volunteers to help with this endeavor; if asked, please do not be shy to respond positively.

For the upcoming March meeting, I would like everyone to bring a friend or acquaintance to become a prospective member.

Finally, I am very excited about the new upcoming events this year. Let's have fun and see what can happen.

Hall Rental Whitey Hooven, Chairman

Keep promoting the hall. Jerry Neibling reports that we have two rentals coming up! When touting the hall to others, be sure to mention that, unlike other halls in the area, our rental price includes refreshments. Since Whitey is out of town this month, please refer all hall rental calls to Jerry Niebling at 574-9818.

Monthly Raffle at C.P.A. Mike Meyer, Chairman

Our first monthly raffle will be held this month. Sell the tickets you currently have and turn in the money before then. Members may want to bring an extra $10 to the regular meeting and buy another ticket. Call Mike Meyer at 574-1687 for more information and additional tickets.

Attendance Prize

John Blevens' name was drawn at February's regular meeting. Since John was not present, he missed out. Next month's prize will grow to $20.00

Sickness/Death Ken Casey, Chairman

The club wishes to extend its deepest sympathies and prayers to Art McCue and family on the passing of his wife, Hazel.

Kitchen Dick Kruse, Chairman

March luncheon will be our traditional Gold Card dinner of limburger cheese, liver wurst and cold cuts. I will be out of town for April's meeting so we will need a volunteer to provide lunch for that meeting.

Membership

March 15 is Gold Card Night. We encourage all Gold Card members to attend and renew acquaintances. Boosting membership is key if we want to continue all the valuable activities we provide. Sports members and prospective members are always welcome.

Installation/Recognition Dinner Dance Jerry Biederman, Chairman

Installation of this year's officers and board members took place on Saturday, February 27th. In attendance were Mayor and Mrs. Laumann, Chief and Mrs. Voss, and Steve Neal, Safety Director as well as a good number of C.P.A. members. Ron Marcum and Ed Freytag were recognized for the contributions for the success of the club's programs.

Athletics Gordon Smyth, Chairman

Last call for baseball. Anyone interested in Spring/Summer C.P.A. Baseball, please call Jay Essell, 574-1198 or Gordon Smyth immediately.

Fall 1999 soccer sign-ups will be held Saturday April 10th and 17th from 10:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at the C.P.A. Headquarters. For more information, call Lou Winston, 347-0589 or Gordon Smyth, 481-2031.

Oldy's But Goody's Bob Moore, President

Joe Beck Reports everything is A-OK. Next meeting will be Friday, March 19th at headquarters.

Special Committees

The Easter egg hunt will be held on Sunday March 28 at 2:00 P.M. at the Harvest Home Park. The egg hunt is for children ages 1-10. Registration at the park will be from 1:00 - 2:00. Volunteers are needed to help staff the event. Volunteers are also needed on Wednesday, March 24th at 6:30 at headquarters to help assemble the eggs.

And Finally, The Cheviot Police Association owes a tremendous debt of gratitude to Ken Casey and his wife, Lavern. For the last ten years, they have served tirelessly and selflessly to write, assemble and mail ore newsletter and has done an exceptional job. At this time, he has decided to step down; he leaves very large shoes to fill. Ken, from all your fellow C.P.A. members, thank you for all your hard work.
