What is CPA ? by Chet Sonderman

The Cheviot Police Association (CPA) was founded in 1942 as an Auxiliary Police Association to aid in the community's war effort. Today, the primary purpose of the Cheviot Police Association is to promote, stimulate, and conduct youth activities for the betterment of our community. The organization sponsors various youth athletic, and other charitable programs. This includes the organization, management, and sponsorship of baseball, softball, and soccer teams and leagues. All activities are open to all youth within the community. The organization also conducts and supports other charitable causes and events including an Easter Egg hunt, a Children's Christmas Party, Christmas for the Needy and the provides hospital equipment for the community free of charge. In addition, contributions are made to local charitable, educational, and community organizations that are tax-exempt under code section 501c(3) including donations to the Cheviot Police Department for training and equipment. and local schools and charities within the community. All these activities and related fund raising events are conducted and supported entirely through the volunteer efforts of the members of the organization. Our major efforts are focused on the youth athletic programs, building character, respect, and instilling mutual trust and relationships amongst the youth, families, and members. We have experienced considerable growth in the athletic programs, especially since the addition of soccer teams several years ago. Other programs such as the Easter Egg Hunt, Christmas events and hospital equipment enable us to further give the citizens of our community an opportunity to share in the giving to others and recognition that others do care in their future development.
