Milwards Steel Crochet Hook No. 7.

Doily measures 17 inches in diameter. Starting at center, ch 9.  Join with sl st to form ring.

1st rnd:  (Sc in ring, ch 17) 10 times; sc in ring, ch 8, trtr in first sc made.

2nd rnd:  Sc in loop formed by ch 8 and trtr , * ch 5, sc in next loop.  Repeat from * around.  Join.

3rd rnd:  Ch 4, 2 tr in same sc, * ch 3, sc in next sp, ch 3, 3 tr in next sc.  Repeat from * around.  Join.

4th rnd:  Sc between ch 4 and next tr, * ch 5, sc between next 2 tr, ch 3, holding back on hook the last loop of each dc, make dc in next 2 loops, thread over and dtaw through all loops on hook (joint dc made), ch 3, sc between next 2 tr.  Repeat from * around.

5th rnd:  Sl st in next loop, ch 4, 4 tr in same loop, * ch 3, make a joint dc over next 2 sps, ch 3, 5 tr in next loop.  Repeat from * around.  Join.

6th rnd:  Sl st in next tr, sc between next 2 tr, * ch 5, sc between next 2 tr, ch 4, make a joint dc over next 2 sps, ch 4, skip 2 tr, sc between 2nd and 3rd tr.   Repeat from * around.  Join.

7th rnd:  Sl st in next loop, ch 4, 6 tr in same loop, * ch 3, joint dc over next 2 loops, ch 3, 7 tr in next loop.  Repeat from * round.  Join.

8th rnd:  Sl st in next 2 tr, sc between 3rd and 4th tr, * ch 5, sc between next 2 tr, ch 5, joint tr over next 2 sps, ch 5, sc between 3rd and 4th tr of next tr group.  Repeat from * around.  Join.

9th rnd:  Work as for 7th rnd, making ch 5 sps instead of ch 3.

10th rnd:  Sl st in next 2 tr, sc between 3rd and 4th tr, * ch 5, sc between next 2 tr, ch 7, join dc over next 2 sps, ch 7, sc between 3rd and 4th tr of next tr group.  Repeat from * around.  Join.

11th rnd:  Sl st in next loop, ch 4, 8 tr in same loop, * ch 7, joint dc over next 2 sps, ch 7, 9 tr in next loop.  Repeat from * around.  Join.

12th rnd:  Sl st in next 3 tr, sc between 4th and 5th tr, Ch 5, sc between next 2 tr, ch 9, joint dc over next 2 sps, ch 9, sc between 4th and 5th tr of next tr group.  Repeat from * around.  Join.

13th rnd:  Work as for 11th rnd, making ch 9 sps instead of ch 7.

14th rnd:  Repeat 12th rnd.

15th rnd:  Sl st in next loop, ch 4, 10 tr in same loop, * ch 9, joint dc over next 2 loops, ch 9, 11 tr in next loop.  Repeat from * around.  Join.

16th rnd:  Sl st in next 4 tr, sc between 5th and 6th tr, * ch 5, sc between next 2 tr, ch 11, joint dc over next 2 sps, ch 11, sc between 5th and 6th tr of next tr group.  Repeat from * around.  Join.

17th rnd:  Work as for 15th rnd, making ch 11 loops instead of ch 9.

18th rnd:  Ch 8, sc in 4th ch from hook (picot made), (tr in next tr, ch 4, sc in 4th ch from hook --- another picot made), 9 times; tr in next tr, * ch 5, (tr in next tr, picot) 10 times; tr in next tr.  Repeat from * around.  Join and break off.  Starch lightly and press.
