Many people have the wrong impressions of abuse, it is not caused by something someone does to prevoke it. It's very real, and it hurts. Not only the person recieving the abuse, but anyone involved, such as family and friends.
No one wants to be abused, or likes it! Not adults, and not children!
Some people think that when they see someone being abused, that they either deserve it, or must like it or they would leave the situation. That is not always possible for various reasons.
Reports show that 3-4 million women are beaten in their homes each year by either their husbands, or partners. Attacks by husbands/partners on women result in more medically treated injuries then rape, auto accidents, and muggings
Here are some other shocking facts I have read. 1. A women is beaten every 15 SECONDS. 2. 63% of all young men between the ages of 11-20 are serving time for killing there mothers abusers. 3. Women of cultures, races, occupations, income levels, and ages are abused. 4. Women who leave there abusers are at a 75% greater risk of being killed then if they stay in the home. 5. 50% of homeless women with children are on the streets beause of violence in the home. 6. We have more animal shelters in the US then we do abuse shelters.BUT... you can help....if you are in an abusive relationship, or know of someone who is please call this number: Domestic violence hotline 1-800-333-safe You can do something to stop the abuse!
