DOUG BUSH


Douglas Bush is Assistant Director of Bands at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. His duties include teaching Music Education classes, visual design for the 290 member "Cornhusker" Marching Band, directing the "Big Red Express" pep band, and directing the Campus Concert Bands. Before becoming assistant director, Mr. Bush served as both graduate assistant and lecturer in the UNL Music Education Department. It was during those 2 years that Mr. Bush earned his masters degree in Music Education from Nebraska. Prior to his moving to Lincoln, Mr. Bush served as Band Director at Loveland HS, Loveland, Ohio (1988-2000), Ft. Thomas Highlands HS, Ft. Thomas, KY (1981-1983), and East Hardin HS, Glendale, KY (1983-88). Mr. Bush is a 1981 graduate of the University of Kentucky with a Bachelors Degree in Music Education. While at the University of Kentucky, Mr. Bush studied trumpet with Vincent DiMartino and marching band methods with Gordon Henderson. During his senior year, Mr. Bush was selected to serve as Senior Assistant Director of the University of Kentucky Wildcat Marching Band. Since 1981, Mr. Bush has worked with high school and college marching bands in Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, Florida, Nebraska, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and South Dakota as instructor, clinician, drill designer, or music arranger. Since 1994, Mr. Bush has been a member of the Central States Judges Association and has judged hundreds of Indiana high school marching bands in the area of visual execution and effect. Mr. Bush has attended clinics in the area of marching band conducted by Ken Snoeck, Gary Czapinski, George Oliviero, George Parks, Todd Ryan, and Scott Hickey. Mr. Bush resides in Lincoln with his wife and their three sons.
