"Remember the music that was playing during the steerage party in Titanic? That was Gaelic Storm, who on their self-titled debut present an engaging mix of traditional music, dance music, and songs, all performed with energy and enthusiasm. The album opens with "Hills of Connemara," a fast-paced tune with a long instrumental section before the vocals begin, thus giving you a taste of the considerable musical talent present in this group. "Bonnie Ship the Diamond/Tamlinn" is a fast, almost breathless piece with plenty of dramatic phrasing, while "The Farmer's Frolic" has a swinging shuffle feel. Particularly engaging are the strongly rhythmic "Rocky Road to Dublin/Kid on the Mountain" and the energetic closer "The Road to Liskeard," but it's all strong material that reminds one at times of early Chieftains recordings." --Genevieve Williams

"Part showtunes, part classical, and part folk music, Ronan Hardiman's score to Lord of the Dance, the musical starring dancer Michael Flatley, successfully avoids all the inherent pitfalls of such an enterprise. Hardiman has emerged as Ireland's finest interpreter of traditional music for films, TV, and the theater, and under his guidance the 19 lush orchestral tunes, augmented with many traditional instruments, are rife with the spirit of the Emerald Isle. Two of the tracks feature the taps of Flatley and Co, while the rest highlight the score as composed by Hardiman with all its subtle textures intact and not masked by the live sound of tap dancing. Lord of the Dance is a perfect and very listenable fusion of Broadway and the indigenous heritage of Irish music making." --Derek Rath

"Nothing like this has been heard before - in Ireland or anywhere else. Based around local musicians, both traditional and otherwise, it also includes brilliantly integrated contributions from an extraordinarily diverse bunch of overseas artists. Riverdance is based on the interaction of water and land, with the water symbolizing the nourishing female influence on the hard male soil. Whelan is convincing in a multitude of musical settings, whether updating the Moving Hearts sound for the 90s, capturing the soul of Spain in the style of a pastoral Rodrigo, or gyrating to a Russian dervish. Some of the songwriting is breathtaking, especially "Lift the Wings" sung by Aine Ui Cheallaigh."

"This is the kind of music that has something for just about everyone. It's calming, it's exciting. Listening to the CD (and especially watching the video)you can live one man's dream and feel a part of it. Ronan Hardiman is excellent. The combined talent of Ronan and Michael Flatley cannot be beat. Sit back, close your eyes, open yourself up and listen--it's amazing. It's really another world."
