Who (or what) is Shumi-Shumi Man?
One of the questions that I'm most often asked is "Who is Shumi-Shumi Man?" And I always have to respond "Danged if I know." And it's true. While yes, I oversee nearly every aspect of this film, Shumi-Shumi Man isn't my own creation. Shumi-Shumi Man was created one evening in 1997 by Andy Black (the films director) and Les Tipping (who has nothing whatsoever to do with this film). They form the basis of the Lesandytendo game console with the video games Bear,Shark, and, of course, Shumi-Shumi Man VII. I once asked Andy who/what the Shumi-Shumi Man was, and he didn't even really know. So, I'm gonna try to figure out some logical sounding answer, even if it is a load of crap in the end. You know, I put forth an answer to the question once before, on 9 April 1998, when I wrote a page for the Shumi-Shumi Man VI Production Bible("Bible" is the term given to the production guide for a movie or television series). So here we go...
"Shumi-Shumi Man VI is the sixth chapter in the Shumi-Shumi Man series. The series, created by Andy Black, has many, many chapters, all of which represent a different part of the universe of Shumi-Shumi Man. Who Shumi-Shumi Man really is is something that no one can truthfully answer. Who or what Shumi-Shumi Man is may never be answered. It all depends on how ambitious Andy is. The different chapters of the Shumi-Shumi series are being written out of order in an attempt to show people that order is unimportant... or that we don't really care. Each chapter is not only about a different subject, but each one is in a different form. For example, Shumi-Shumi Man VII is the sequel to Shumi-Shumi Man VI. Shumi-Shumi Man VI is a movie about a picnic disaster, and Shumi-Shumi Man VII is a video game about being chased by something while Mongolian circus music plays. Shumi-Shumi Man VII is also in itself a sequel to the hit Lesandytendo video games Shark and Bear. But, for the lack of order, Shumi-Shumi Man VII was made before Shumi-Shumi Man VI was even envisioned."

But in the end, what it all comes down to is that no one on the films production staff, or anyone ever involved with Shumi-Shumi Man truthfully know who or what he is. Maybe that's something for each person to decide. Maybe Shumi-Shumi Man is whatever you want it to be. God, I don't even know. It gives me a headache. I'm outta here.
