Royalty not Normality

Royalty not Normality

March, 28 1999

I might sound mean, but it's amusing how the Royals try to be normal. What are they talking about? Remember how one day Harrod's of London shuts down its doors so William (and some other folks) could "buy their own stuff?" You call that normal? We have to give them credit for trying, you know, public relations work is not easy. I'm just gonna give it to them straight, what they're doing is not normal, their existence is not normal, William's extremely fetching good looks are not normal (thank goodness for that:).

If the their aim is to be normal I say they kick Will and Harry out of Eton College and make them go to one of those public or "state" schools. Shut away in the protective gates of Eton, they pay 20,000 pounds a year to remove themselves from civilization, from the people who decide the faith (and Fate) of the Monarchy, from peers who will judge their every move years from now. How many people actually go to all boys school? Who would want to? No girls. That would suck.

Let's talk about William's style. What style? Most boy his age wears the same shirt and socks for weeks without even washing it! (I'm exaggerating) They wear shirts that say, "Beavis and Butthead Rule." What does William wear? Fine tailored clothing and nicely polished shoes, I bet he's not the one to polish them either. If you put these two boys together, what would they do? Stare at each other and think "what a queer" Style? Hah! Give me 10,000 pounds a year and I'll show you style!

I guess the fact that most royals are unemployed would class them as "normal." But prolonged unemployment, and they're still happy? That's NOT normal. From what I've seen, the Royals waste money of private education, yet nothing productive comes of it. I can't imagine William or Harry actually joining the work force. Actually do something to contribute to society. It's the way things has always been, I guess it's a little unfair of me to actually expect the Royals break a sweat earning all that dough ($$$). Oh, sure, they try to make things look like work but, who are they fooling? Not me, I'm very smart and I'll let you in on a little secret, it's NOT work! You call going to Africa, China, Australia, Canada, U.S., Argentenia and etc . ..you call that work? Sure their are "official engagements" and "meet the press and etc. ." and those lovely "walkabouts" but it's all just so ostentatious . . .fake and showy. It's a waste of brain power really.

I'm sure the Royals are smart human beings and they can put their brain, and education to really good use. Not just be socialites and make friends all the time. They go to all these flashy movie premiers and public events and etc . . .yeah . . .like hanging out with suppermodels and movie stars will change the world for the better.

Why do they need to meet so many people around the world? It's not like they're making much of a difference. Princess Diana was a good exception, she actually tried to do something about this ugly world we live in. She helped focus people's attention towards land mine troubles, now that's productive.

Royals say they want to be normal, I say forget it. Don't try too hard, you might break a sweat or something. Actions means more than words. Sweet talk all they want but not much has change since the old days. The Monarchy has become less significant, and more lazy. They don't rule the country, they don't even contribute that much to anything. Money should go feed the homeless, there is no shortage of that. There are other great achievers out there, I just think the luxury should go to people that deserve it. People who make a difference people who risk their lives for world peace. People who live in poverty just so they can help the needy in some third world country like China. All the luxury should go to them. The solution is so obvious, yet no one seems care enough to do something.

Let me tell you now, I'm a little bitter. Why? Because if you take William's tuition of 20,000 pounds, it could feed a family of 3 for a whole year, they would be live in relative comfort. If you sell all the Queen's estates and castles, the cost of maintnance would decrease dramatically, is there a reason why the Queen needs all those castles and jewlery? How will those materialistic things help make the world a better place?

Why must we be so respectful to Royals? What have they done to deserve what they have? We should look at our teachers and our mothers and fathers. They have actually done something to deserve our respect. They work hard everyday to put food on the table. To raise you and make you into a good person. We look at Royals and think they're more important because of all the wealth they have. That's not true. We should not admire them too much because they are only humans that live there life insignificantly, when they die, they will remembered for their birth and status, not what they have accomplished. I'm generalizing, but there are always

exceptions. I know of at least 2 Royals that have a job. One produces televsion programs, for public television, that's a step towards normality for you. We all know Sarah Ferguson (Fergie). The royals look down there nose at her but I have more respect for her than some other Royals. It sounds silly that she works for Weight Watchers, but I applaude her for being normal and working to pay her debts and etc. . .It's a small contribution to society but it's an honest one.

I was going to write about normality but as you can see I got way off topic. My views changes so often so I might not dislike monarchy for ever.
