The Crow. It's my entire life. The movie stars Brandon Lee, who died while filming it. This is my humble shrine dedicated to both Brandon Lee, and the character he portrayed in his last film, Eric Draven.
Brandon Bruce Lee was born in Oakland, California on February 1, 1965. He was the son of legendary film star/martial artist Bruce Lee. From the very beginning, his father trained him in the martial arts style of Jeet Kune Do. But this was never really Brandon's aspriation, he had wanted to become an actor. At age nine, Bruce Lee died.
Brandon studied drama in high school, and he went on to attend acting classes in New York at the Actors Studio. And then studied acting at Emerson College in Boston, MA. Later on, he joined Eric Morris' American New Theater Company in NYC,He even moved with the company to LA!
Brandon studied Jeet Kune Do with two of Bruce's former students who run the Inosanto Academy of Martial Arts; Ted Wong and Dan Inosanto. The Inosanto Academy is located in California.
The Death Of Brandon Lee In 1993, Brandon Lee was filimg one of the flashback scenes in "The Crow". It's the scene where Eric Draven enters the apartment to find Shelly is being raped. Micheal Masse (Funboy) was supposed to shoot a blank at Brandon, but something terribly wrong happened on the night of March 31st, 1993, eight days before the end of filming, and 12 days before Brandon's wedding to Eliza. The accident happened, partially because of the fact that, the arms-master, who's job it is to load the gun, was sent home for the day. The propsmaster was the one who loaded the blanks, but he had forgotten to check the barrel of the gun. A few days earlier, not having any blanks, a Do-It-Yourself guy had emptied out real bullets to use in their place. When the gun was fired, a light detonation occoured, because of the remainder of powder, which forced a piece of cartridge into the barrel, and, therefore, blocked it.Since nobody bothered to check and clean the gun, it was in this state that the .44 Magnum came to be used in the scene. Once the cameras started rolling, Micheal Masse (Funboy) took up his position, a short distance away from Bradon, perhaps too short. On top of it, Micheal Masse was off balance, and fired directly at Brandon, instead of aiming away from him. Brandon Lee had just been shot, but no one had realized it, since the scene calls for Eric Draven to be rolling around in agony. No one realized what had gone wrong until after the director yelled "CUT!". This happened at midnight on March 31st, and Brandon died at the hospital several hours later. He was laid to rest beside his father in Lakeview Cemetary, in Seattle, Washington.
