David Spade was hired on as a writer for Saturday Night Live. He shared an office with Chris Farley, and they quickly became good friends. During his first season at SNL he performed only three times. He says, "I was a writer-performer, but they didn't want me to perform because Dana Carvey was there. Also, they wanted me to pay my dues." Soon after, he and Chris performed in some skits together, and they were a hit. He stayed at SNL for six seasons before he quit to pursue acting full time.
