ECW: Extreme Music
Track 1: This is Extreme by Harry Slash and the Slashtones
This is the best theme for a wrestling TV show, period. It's got a very energetic beat that fits ECW very well. It almost makes you feel like doing a somersault plancha right in your own living room.
Rating: ***3/4
Track 2: El Phantasmo and The Chicken Run Blast O Rama by White Zombie
This is a fun track. They stop the music completely several times at the beginning, and then coming back with all the instruments right in your face. My only consolation is that you can barely understand what Rob Zombie is saying.
Rating: ***
Track 3: Walk by Kilgore
This is a great song with a guitar solo in the middle that would make Metallica turn green with envy. The only way that this song is worse than the original version is that there could have been more voices in the chorus singing "Re... spect... Walk!"
Rating: ****
Track 4: Trust by Megadeth
This is an instrumental version of the song, but a good one. Croooooow commented, "It almost sounds like a wrestling match from beginning to end." He was right too, with a fast beat at the beginning in then slowing down in what he called "the submission hold." Then it picks up again toward the end, and finally ends.
Rating: ***1/2
Track 5: The Zoo by Bruce Dickinson
This is another good song. I like how the song starts out and ends in the same way. A good version of the song, although I can't say it was better than The Scorpions' version, since I've never heard it.
Rating: ***1/2
Track 6: Enter Sandman by Motorhead
Motorhead's Enter Sandman just plain sucks. It sounds like the lead singer has asthma for God's sake! I want to see Metallica vs. Motorhead in a Hell in a Cell match so Metallica can kick their asses for this abomination!
Rating: *1/2
Track 7: Snap Your Fingers, Snap Your Neck by Grinspoon
This song is much better than Prong's original version. I like the effect they had on the singer's voice where it sounds like he's singing through the mic at a horse race or something. And the lyrics are fantastic. "Expectations of my daily bread gives me the hunger to steal.." indeed.
Rating: ***3/4
Track 8: Phantom Lord by Anthrax
Okay song, it's much better than Motorhead anyway. I like the fast pace it keeps, except when it slows down in the interlude.
Rating: **1/2
Track 9: Heard it on the X by Tres Diablos
That means Three Devils for those of you who don't speak Spanish. This song has a great beginning, but keeps slowing down and then speeding up again, making it a little confusing.
Rating: ***
Track 10: Kick Out the Jams by Monster Magnet
I haven't heard a lot of Monster Magnet's work, but judging by this, they aren't very good. It picks up a bit near the middle of the song, but the rest of it isn't anything special.
Rating: **3/4
Track 11: Big Balls by Muscadine
This isn't as good as AC/DC's version, but it is the funniest song on the CD. It has a double meaning too. You could judge it as being about a guy who, well... has big balls, or about someone who throws the best damn parties on the block.
Rating: ***1/4
Track 12: Huka Blues by Harry Slash and the Slashtones
This song's great for about the first minute or so and then it hits the lull of repetitiveness for the rest of the song. The use of the saxophone gives this song a snake charmer-like theme.
Rating: ***
Overall Rating: ***1/4. Definitely worth buying, all in all. I'd definitely recommend this to anyone who likes their music HARD!
