"Kid Rock" Edge vs. Jeff Jarrett- WWF Intercontinental Title Match

Edge entered wearing the IC title, because he won it at a house show the night before. They chain-wrestled for a few minutes before Edge gained control. Jarrett started to leave, but made his way back to the ring where he worked on Edge's knee, setting up for the figure four. Edge kicked Jarrett away when he attempted it, but hurt his shoulder when he was rammed into the post. Jarrett worked on the shoulder for awhile, and applied a reverse chinlock, but Edge fought out of it. He managed to spear Jarrett but Debra got on the apron. Jarrett attempted to blind side Edge, but he countered Jarrett's attack before getting shoved into Debra. Edge was thrown from the ring, and the lights went out and Gangrel's music played. Everyone figured another bloodbath was coming, but when the lights came back on, Gangrel was laid out on the floor with Edge standing over him. Back in the ring, Edge regained control, but Gangrel hung him on the top rope, allowing Jarrett to apply a reverse Russian legsweep for the victory. After the match, Jarrett got on the mic, but Austin, coincidentally picking this time to have something to say, ran down and Stunned Jarrett. He then declared his intent to bust UT open before the main event, just as Undertaker had done to him on Heat moments earlier.

The Hardy Boyz & Michael Hayes vs. The Acolytes- Handicap "Acolyte rules" WWF Tag Team Title Match

The match started with a big brawl which the Acolytes took the advantage in, naturally. When Faarooq got Jeff Hardy in the ring, he attempted a clothesline, but Jeff ducked and did a somersault plancha over the top rope onto Bradshaw. When he was double-teamed, Matt Hardy did an asai moonsault onto both Acolytes. The match then settled down, as the Acolytes isolated Michael Hayes. Hayes eventually made the tag, and another brawl broke out soon afterwards. When Jeff attempted to jump off Matt's back into Bradshaw in the corner, Bradshaw came out with the Clothesline from Hell. They threw both Hardys on the outside and gave Michael Hayes a spike powerbomb for the win.

Triple H vs. The Rock- Strap Match

The Rock attacked Triple H before he could get the strap on, and used it to pull HHH into the ring post. The match quickly spilled out into the stands, where Triple H jumped from a railing and nailed the Rock with an axehandle. They moved to the aisle, where Triple H took it to The Rock with the strap. They made their way back to the ring and traded control back and forth. Chyna: Warrior Princess made her way down and distracted the ref. Rock hit the Rock Bottom, but the ref couldn't make the three count. Helmsley nailed him with a low blow and brought the Rock over to the corner, where he stood on the top rope and used the strap to strangle the Rock. The Rock threw HHH back to the center of the ring, but strangled himself with the strap in the process. The ref utilized a ten count (even though there weren't supposed to be count outs), but Rock made a comeback. He threw Triple H to the corner, but the strap wouldn't reach, so he pulled him back and nailed a clothesline and a Samoan Drop. Triple H took off the strap and began pelting the Rock outside the ring, but Rock used the strap to whip Triple H. When they got back to the ring, Billy Gunn ran down and nailed The Rock with a club, but Rock still kicked out of HHH's pin. He low blowed Gunn and nailed Triple H with the Peoples' Elbow. However, Gunn once again interfered by pulling the strap which pulled The Rock off of Triple H. As Rock went for Gunn, HHH nailed the Pedigree for the win.

DX Hollywood vs. DX Wolfpac

X-pac was still injured from The Undertaker's chokeslam in the previous match, so Road Dogg wrestled most of it. Chyna beat on the Dogg for several minutes and Billy Gunn did the same. They wrestled a classic tag match, keeping the Road Dogg isolated and tricking X-pac to come into the ring so that the ref would be distracted. X-pac was tagged in after several minutes, but was quickly taken control of and isolated. He made the tag back to Road Dogg, and a melee broke out. X-pac gave Chyna the Bronco Buster, and Mr. Ass made a leap at X-pac as he was standing in the corner. However, Chyna, who rolled to the outside, tripped X-pac to continue the fight, and Gunn hit nothing but turnbuckle. This allowed Road Dogg to execute the Pumphandle Slam, and he and X-pac won the rights to D-generation X.

Steve Austin vs. The Undertaker- First Blood WWF Title Match

Both men had been busted open prior to the match (Austin on Heat, UT earlier in the PPV). Austin attacked Undertaker as he was making his entrance. They brawled around ringside, both men avoiding shots to the skull. UT dumped Austin into the first row and threw the ring steps at him, but missed. Back at ringside, UT went for some chairshots, but Austin managed to avoid them. When they got back in the ring, the ref took a bump and Austin tied Undertaker up in the ropes. Austin got a chair, but Shane McMahon ran down and hit Austin with a stiff chairshot. Shane then got a Stunner for his efforts. The Undertaker got out of the ropes and was about to hit Austin with the chair, but X-pac ran in and gave UT a Van Daminator. Austin grabbed a TV camera and nailed Undertaker, busting him open. The Undertaker managed to lift Austin up for a Tombstone just as the ref woke up. Austin slid off the Undertaker's shoulders, and the ref saw the blood and called for the bell. The fighting continued, and Triple H ran out to attack Austin. Down at ringside, UT nailed Shane McMahon and The Rock ran in to attack HHH. Austin and UT continued to fight, and were finally separated. Vince McMahon entered the ring looking shaken, and Austin offered a handshake. McMahon reluctantly accepted, and Austin gave Vince a Stunner.

Al Snow vs. The Big Bossman- WWF Hardcore Title Match

Al approached the Bossman as he was walking down the aisle, asking to be put out of his misery again. Instead, the Bossman started hitting Head with the night stick, causing Snow even more pain. He tackled the Bossman, and brawled near the entrance ramp. The Bossman put Snow into a road box, but Snow got out and hit him with a sandbag. The action went backstage, where they used a number of weapons on each other. Snow threw coffee in the Bossman's face and suplexed him through a table. The Bossman regained control and shoved Snow up against the wall, intent on running him over with a golf cart. Unfortunately for the Bossman, it wouldn't start. They went outside, where they used traffic pylons on each other (I'm not calling them Snow Cones). Bossman hit Snow with a brick, but Snow was still able to kick out. They fought into the road, causing a passing car to screech to a halt. Bossman took Snow over to a fence and rammed him into a No Tresspassing sign. He handcuffed Snow to the fence and beat him again and again with the night stick. He then utilized a vertical pin on the fence to win the Hardcore belt.

Ken Shamrock vs. Steve Blackman- Iron Circle Match

A number of wrestlers sat on top of the circle of cars, honking the horns and watching the fight (the only one that stands out in my mind was f'n Mabel, because I could hear him screaming in Mabelese). Blackman and Shamrock brawled around the cars, doing some dangerous stunts with the windows. At one point, Blackman tried a front kick, but Shamrock moved and he kicked in a window. Blackman opened a car door and pulled out a tire iron, which he used to his advantage. They brawled around the back of the cars where the lighting wasn't good. Shamrock found a trash can and used it on Blackman. Then he took a chain and choked out Blackman for the win.

D'lo Brown vs. Mideon Godwinn- WWF European Title Match

Very uneventful match. Ever notice how the music that Mideon, Mabel, and the Acolytes use just completely kills the crowd? After several minutes of Mideon offense (ugh), Brown came back and hit the Sky High as well as a Tornado DDT. Then he ascended the turnbuckles and executed the 'Lo Down to become a 3x European Champion.

The Big Slow Paul Wight vs. Kane

For a referee, we were blessed with the talents of Bob "I'm Hardcore, if you don't believe me I'll smack ya" Holly. Shortly into this one, Wight lifted Kane for a military press, and threw him on the outside, all the way to the floor! I never thought I'd see Kane take the Bump of the Night. Wight dominated the match with exciting kicks, punches, and yes, even headbutts! Holly was impartial until a Big Show nearfall, where he told Wight that he should have hooked the leg. Kane made a comeback and delivered a flying clothesline. He went for the chokeslam, but Holly clipped Kane's knee and The Big Show hit The Showstopper for the win. X-pac came out and gave Holly a spinning heel kick. Then the Undertaker came out and chokeslammed X-pac, and then joined Wight in stomping Kane.

Overall PPV Rating: ***

Not a bad PPV, really, with Austin's hunting the Undertaker looking to bust him open. The ringwok was better than King of the Ring, and the angles were all played out very well.
