Malenko arrived in the WWF with his friends Chris Benoit, Eddie Guererro, and Perry Saturn. After helping the rest of the Radicals turn on Cactus Jack in exchange for contracts, he teamed with Saturn, mostly against Too Cool and The Hardy Boyz. They teamed with Benoit at No Way Out, but lost to Too Cool and Rikishi Phatu. In mid-march, Malenko won the Light Heavyweight title from Essa Rios. He teamed with Guererro and Saturn to lose to Chyna and Too Cool at WrestleMania 2000. He lost the light heavyweight title to Scotty Too Hotty but regained it a couple of weeks later. He beat Scotty in a rematch at Backlash. He then teamed with The Godfather who provided Malenko with hoes. Malenko became a ladies' man over the next month. After being relegated to Jakked and Metal for the summer, he soon joined his former friends in reforming the Radicalz over the Fall. They beat the team of Billy Gunn, Road Dogg, K-Kwik, and Chyna at Survivor Series. After hitting on Lita and being rejected, he teamed with Saturn and Guererro to beat her and The Hardy Boyz at Armageddon.

Malenko lost a match with Lita thanks to Matt Hardy, and went back to defending his Light Heavyweight title. In March of 2001, he lost the belt to Crash Holly. Chris Benoit left the Radicalz and Eddie Guerrero became the new leader. However, Eddie left himself to join up with the Hardys in April, leaving Malenko and Saturn as a team.
