WWF: The Music vol. 3
Track 1: Undertaker
This is a nice track. It's almost like they took UT's old music and gave it a heavy metal makeover. I like the chorus in the middle of the song. Not as scary as his previous themes, but still pretty cool.
Rating: ***1/2
Track 2: Edge
This song has sort of a theme of confusion to it. Almost like you can sense the television camera searching the crowd for Edge as he comes to the ring. Whoever they used for the mysterious voice is good. It is a little short, however, before it repeats itself five million times.
Rating: ***
X-pac
This is one of my favorites. X-pac's theme is a different version of the DX theme. The beginning was also used in Mike Tyson's WrestleMania entrance music.
Rating: ****
Track 4: Dude Love
This is just a repeat track from The Music: vol. 2. I was hoping that they would have the Love Shak music instead, but oh well...
Rating: **1/4
Track 5: Kane
This theme has the scariness that Undertaker's music lacks. Good use of the organs and human chorus. Like Edge's theme, it's kind of short.
Rating: ***
Track 6: The Rock
This is an outdated version. It's the music that Rock used from SummerSlam until before the Survivor Series. Good use of the Rock's quotes throughout the theme, and I like how it switches speakers everytime it goes "The Rock says..." You can tell it was based on The Nation's theme.
Rating: ***1/4
Track 7: Gangrel/ The Brood
Another supernatural scary theme. I like the heavy breathing, and "Gangrel" being repeated at the beginning. The melody is backed up with a nice harmony, and more indistinguishable (sp?) quotes at the end.
Rating: ***
Track 8: Ken Shamrock
This is a remix of Shamrock's previous theme, just with more guitar. Overall nice fighting theme.
Rating: **3/4
Track 9: Oddities
Say what you will about ICP, but they do know how to make music. The lyrics are funny, and the piano adds to its silliness, and the chorus knows how to sing.
Rating: ****
Track 10: D-generation X
Maybe I'm just a DX mark, but I really like all their themes. This one will have you throwing crotch chops left and right. Add the singing of Chris Warren and you have another **** song.
Rating: ****
Track 11: Sable
This is another remix, with some new instruments and more cat noises. They did such a good job with this one that it doesn't seem that repetitive.
Rating: ***
Track 12: New Age Outlaws
The beginning of this song's "Oh you didn't know? Your ass better call somebody!" is mistimed, and they obviously recorded the quote in the arena, because the Roaddogg talks on for about ten seconds before they finally cut him off and get on with the music. Other than that, it's a nice track with a badboy theme attached.
Rating: **3/4
Track 13: Val Venis
Hello ladies! This song makes good use of the saxophone. And the overall theme makes me think of Ravishing Rick Rude. Good theme.
Rating: ***
Track 14: Stone Cold Steve Austin
This is another remix, and it's done very well. On vol. 2, they cut out the entire beginning of Austin's theme, and that mistake is corrected here.
Rating: ***1/4
Overall Rating: ***1/2. One thing to note is that they didn't put quotes in the middle of the song, except the ones that are supposed to have them. This is good, because it allows us to listen to the music rather than have to judge a wrestler's mic skills.
