SONY WDA-E330 Autochanger

In a unit lower than an office desk, the WDA-E330 packs twelve 12 inch write once optical disks and one drive for up to 78.6 GB of mass data storage. The WDA-E330's superior disk management, combined with the drive's fast 900 KB/s data transfer rate, significantly increases performance. The WDA-E330 uses an innovative architecture and electronics design to achieve a quick disk loading time of under 4 seconds. Just as important, the storage capacity can be expanded to 235.8 GB by daisy-chaining three mini-autochangers. With the WDA-E330, Sony is providing an entry-level autochanger solution that also permits upward migration and provides excellent cost/performance advantages. The WDA-E330 extends Sony's range of autochanger options, which are available at different price points and storage capacities.

This unit is in good physical condition and includes 2ea. Sony Double Sided WDM-6DL0 CLV 6.55 GB Disks (contents unknown). The unit also includes an instruction/operation manual. I'm not familiar with these units and have no way to test it (no computer with SCSI connection). When I powered up this unit, I get an error message that says "ESTOP ERROR" and "ERROR 730" on the front display. I don't know if the message is because the unit isn't connected to a computer or other problem. I don't offer a warranty on this, but I will offer a guarantee in the fact that it will be in working order when received. If any item arrives in a condition other than described in this ad, it will be covered under shipping insurance (if insurance is chosen).   At 559 x 700 x 915 mm (22 x 27.6 x 26 inches), the WDA-E330 is exceptionally compact yet has room for up to 12 disks, a maximum capacity of 78.6 GB. The WDA-E330 boasts high on-line storage capacity, fewer disk swaps than 5.25 inch jukeboxes and extremely low cost per megabyte.

• Quick Disk Loading
  The WDA-E330 can unload a disk and load a new one in under 4 seconds. The key to this short loading time is the WDA-E330's unique drive elevation mechanism combined with a rotary disk shelf. When a new disk needs to be accessed, the drive returns the disk in play to the shelf and travels up or down to the level of the second disk. If the data is on Side B of the disk, the whole disk shelf rotates 180 degrees while the drive is in motion. Called the "Quick Dual Movement", this mechanism not only speeds disk-to-disk access but also contributes greatly to size reduction.

• System Expandability
  The WDA-E330 supports SCSI-2 (ANSI X3T9.2/86-109 Revision 10h) for host interfacing. Using two SCSI IDs for each, up to three WDA-E330s can be daisy chained on the SCSI bus, providing an affordable platform for future system expansion.

• Cost Effectiveness
  The WDA-E330 provides mass data storage in an economical, space-saving deckside package. The WDA-E330 is perfect for applications that don't need a large autochanger initially, but do need an entry-level low cost per megabyte product that will permit upward migration when system expansion is required.
