2. Make a long incision at the back of the neck and extend it up to the crown of the head.

3. Peel scalp away from skull.

4. Detach and discard lower jaw.

5. Sew eyelids together and place slivers of palm wood between the lips to hold mouth closed.

6. Boil water in a pot and place the scalp and face inside.

7. Remove from pot after two hours and sew together the two halves of the scalp. This produces a 'bag' open at the neck.

8. Place large, hot stones into the 'bag'. This shrinks the skin tissues.

9. As shrinkage occurs, replace large stones with smaller ones.

10. To produce a final head reduction to about the size of a large orange, pour hot sand inside.

11. To maintain proportions of the facial structures, trim eyebrows and eyelashes to the correct lengths.

12. Smoke head overnight by suspending it above a fire.
