June, July & August PMA Award Winners
The UCLA Vietnamese Student Union came to our attention through one of its members.
It is a student-run organization, striving
to educate and spread beautiful Vietnamese culture and heritage, while
providing community services and empowerment in student government.
They host a website that boasts not only innovative,
high-tech Shockwave
web design distinguishing their
university student organization from all others in the nation (they claim), but they are
also proud of the content. This website was built
to reflect the diversity of student programming that the UCLA Vietnamese
Student Union (VSU) oversees. They offer a window to the life of
VSU through videos of their Culture Night, Flash movies of the Cafe
Am, and information about all other community outreach and student
retention projects since their establishment in 1977. VSU's goal is to
serve the community and spread their culture. The organization started over twenty years
ago. Their vision to spread that awareness remains and is strong today, on the World Wide Web.

Olive Mitchell was nominated by Maxine Kennebrew. Olive looks at the sunnyside of things and begins the day
with a delightful smile. She makes everyone she knows feel comfortable.
Olive has the ability to give her employees a sense of worth.
Fran Chambers was nominated by Linda Hayes. Linda admits that
the internet is a great place to meet many wonderful friends that
one would not meet otherwise. Fran is a
"wonderful person" of whom Linda was blessed to make her acquaintence.
Almost everyday the two e-converse and Fran always has
a warm hello, an
inspirational message, or a friendship poem to share.
This really makes Linda's day. Linda says "Thank you Fran,
for the smiles you send across the miles." Congratulate Fran by

Paul Smith was nominated by Kurt Walter. When Kurt was going through a
tough time with a certain problem, Paul encouraged him
throughout the course of his situation. He thanks God for Paul's positive
attitude and wants to recognize him for this. Kudos on Kurt finding such a

Bella is a free magazine dedicated to helping women feel better
about their bodies and themselves was nominated by Jon Marinelli.
The publication encourages women to love
themselves just as they are as opposed to beating themselves
up for being overweight. Bella promotes healthy eating and exercise
for fitness at any weight, instead of dangerous dieting to
achieve what are often unrealistic weight goals. Check out

be pleasantly surprised.
