The Congaree National Park - A New Wilderness Preserve

Located twenty miles south of Columbia, South Carolina's first national park is situated along the Congaree River and preserves a part of the once vast riparian wetlands that are quickly disappearing from the South. This is the home of champion trees...trees that are the largest of its species in the United States.

The Boardwalk Trail

The boardwalk trail originates at the Harry Hampton Visitor Center and extends for a 2.4 mile loop trail through the Bald Cypress and Loblolly Pine forests. Here, Vicki looks upward to see the top of a 150 foot tall Loblolly Pine.
