Vicki and other hikers enjoy what many have proclaimed as the most outstanding view in the Great Smokies. At 6,555 ft., Cliff Top offers breathtaking views to the south and west, and is a favorite for overnight hikers who wish to view the spectacular sunsets. Looking west, other LeConte peaks are West Point (right, 6,344 ft.) and Balsam Point (center, 5,818 ft.) Sugarland Mountain and Blanket Mountain may be seen in the distance at left. |

Just as the hikers gather at Myrtle Point for sunrise views, the hikers find tradition in trekking to Cliff Top for the sunsets. The area from which this picture has been taken is now closed to provide potential sanctuary for Peregrine falcons. |
