Journal or something
My personal random thoughts on random shit.
31 May, 2000, Leipzig, Germany
The first and probably only update from Germany. Life here is great though, being the computer addict that I am, I miss my computer (the ones here are tremendously slow and all run on netscape :P) ( If you read this Christian: what was that about the internet being the downfall of American society? That doesn't apply to me ;) *immense sarcasm here*)
I know that's a sad thing to miss, but, hell, its better than TV.
Anyway, my update today actually has a point other that the usual avoidance of paper writing (which is still true). I've come up with a new name for my web page, and a bit of an idea for a new design, but I won't start working on it until I return. Also, I felt the need to comment on the New York Senate race.
Being the faithful liberal that I am (oh no! I said the bad word) I'm for Hillary (and another, two in one sentence!!). But she's got her work cut out for her. Here's part of Lazio's (the guy running against her) nomination acceptance speech that I thought particuarlarly compelling:
"I begin this campaign with no illusions, he said. "I am
the underdog in this race. My opponent is better
financed and better known. She comes to New York
with the support of every left-wing organization from
Washington insiders to the Hollywood elite. But as I said
before, bring 'em on -- because when it comes to
representing the needs, the concerns and the values of
New York, I can be myself. I am a New Yorker." (thanks to cnn.com)
I must say, it's a great little ditty and he's a straight talker (as much as any politician is, or at least he pretends to be), and uninformed American voters love their straight talkers. Also,
Hillary does not seem to carry as much charisma as Bill, which I completely blame on American society. Americans run screaming from women in power like a bad disease.
Enough with my rant for now. See ya'll in about 3 weeks when I'm home and have a roommate with a scanner, and lots of pictures of Europe.
