Sowing dreams!
In 2015, we concentrated on bringing in as many Common Milkweeds (Asclepias syriaca) as possible. A strip at the end of our vegetable garden was tilled and sowed with all the seeds we had collected in the fall of 2014. In addition, we obtained potted plants of the Rose Milkweed (Asclepias incarnata) and raised seven Monarch caterpillars on our porch. After the caterpillars turned into butterflies, we planted the Rose Milkweed to serve as a source of seed for our garden milkweed strips. We hope to plant another strip of the garden with this species next spring.
