James Murray, one of
our own, has went on to be with the Lord at 7:15 AM, 22
January 2003. We believe he was 78 years old when he took ill 3
days after his birthday. He lives on in our hearts
and memory. Mr. Murray overcame many obstacles in his
lifetime. He lived through a lot of changes in
America. I have never once known him to complain
about any inequalities he endured about what it was like
being an African American in the Unitied States. He is
a true American and has worked hard to do his part to ensure we
maintain our freedom. He knows hardship, he knows love, he
knows true freedom. He treats others the way they
should be, that is to treat others the way you would like
them to treat you. He treated everyone like
a brother or sister. He would be in my book, a true
Man of Honor like the one portrayed in the movie. He
has a legacy that will live on in our memory as a true
patriot. A man who set an example for all others to
follow. Please extend your prayer
support to the family of James Murray (formerly SSgt Murray)
one of the original Montford Point Marines. Mr.
Murray was an Adult Staff Member of the the Greater
Cleveland Young Marines and later a catlayst in starting
the Wildwood Young Marines of Ohio. He also was the
president of the Cleveland Chapter of the Montford Point
Marines. To learn more about Montford Point Marines see

In memory of Mr. Murray, the Wildwood Young Marines will be starting a scholarship for Young Marines in the Wildwood unit that are looking forward to college but may not be eligible to go because of financial problems. We are now accepting donations for this fund. Please make your checks payable to:
In the memo write:
