Historical Overview
Early Years.
Crystal (maiden name of Holmes) was born in the early fall of 2020 in the city of Boston. Born with bright green eyes and a happy smile that was not destined to last. She had an brother who was only a year or so older. Her father was a common dock laborer and her mother a housewife. In the winter of 2027, her father was killed in a accident while at work.
The death benefits sustained the family only several months. Her mother spent several months after her father died working as a waitress at a local nightclub in a not so safe part of town. After several years of struggling to survive, her mother was killed by stray fire during a gang shootout.
She was then placed in an orphanage under state control until she was old enough to care of herself. Her brother withdrew into the world of BTL use and died later that year.
Alone.
With her family gone and no one left to turn to, Crystal withdrew into herself until something she hadn't expected happened. That same day as her brother died, a Hearth spirit appeared to her. Consoled by the Hearth spirit, Crystal began to study what little she could about magic.
Urged on and assisted by her spirit "companions", Crystal managed to gain an audience with Lofwyr, the great dragon who owned Saeder-Krupp. Crystal begged the dragon for help.
Intrigued, the great dragon offered her a deal. He would accept her on one condition. She would not move from the spot where she was sitting until he said otherwise. If she failed, he would incinerate her where she was. After three days of ignoring her, the dragon turned to her and congratulated her for learning her first lesson.
Patience.
Lofwyr.
In the course of the next dozen years, Crystal worked directly for the dragon in a variety of roles, including keeping tabs on the dragon's brother, Alamais.
Her long flaming red hair earned her the handle of "Phoenix" because like the paranormal, Crystal had risen from the ashes of her family and was reborn stronger.
Family reborn.
Early 2050, Crystal had returned to Lofwyr to report on the activities of various underground organizations when she first met the exotic who would become her husband.
A whirlwind romance, one Lofwyr commented upon as one of the few times he could recall being embarrassed, lead rapidly to marriage.
