Plastic Easter eggs!

(Be sure to buy lots of them when they are half off after Easter and save them for next year!)

*Give each child a plastic egg to carry home and fill with a surprise. The next day in group time the children ggive hints about what was in their egg.

*Put word families on one side and begininng sounds on the other and turn it to make words.

* Put a different story starter inside each egg. Children tape their story starter onto their paper, and then finish the sentence and illustrate their story.

*Put a capital letters on half the egg and lower case letters on the other half and
had them match the capital to the lower case. You could also put numbers on 1/2 and number words on the other half for more advanced students.

* Put a rhyming picture in each egg. Then
have the leader of the day hop around the circle dressed with ears like a bunny and passes out an egg to each child. We are singing "Here comes Peter cottontail hopping down the bunny trail. As soon as all the children have an egg, count or say something. Then the children must get up and go find the person who has the
picture that rhymes with theirs. Then they line up together and tell me their rhyming picture names. I also have put a letter in one egg and a picture that has the
beginning sound in the other. Pass these out and play the same game.

*You could make matching games. Put the upper case letter on one half and the lower case on the other half so that the kids have to match them up. You
could also do that with numerals and dots.

*Put various items in that, when shaken, produce different sounds and make a sound matching game? Good for 5 senses study.

*You could do a memorization game. Take 3 eggs, put something different in each one (each egg would be a different color) Show the children what is in
each egg. Have them close their eyes or you have a prop to sit behind with the eggs. Take one of the items out; ask what is missing. Ask what is in each color. There are several options for this game.
