P. beyeri is one of the most incredible looking beetles with a body color that looks velvety green, but is smooth, and very purple legs. Also this is the largest of the U.S. Plusiotus at 33-38mm.
Food: Adults are supposed to eat oak leaves in the wild and will do well on most sugary liquids. Larvae do best if fed just well rotted wood.
Life cycle: P. beyeri lives only a month or two as an adult and seldom lives more than a few weeks when wild caught.
Difficulties: P. beyeri ova are very sensitive and can die easily if kept in rotten wood; place ova in crushed leaves until hatching.
