The Tea Party are simply the best band that I have ever heard. I actually picked up the cd 'The Edges of Twilight' on a fluke, because I thought the video for 'Fire In The Head' looked so cool. Anyway, it was a great buy. *g* I can honestly say that I love every single song on that cd and you can't say that about many cds nor bands.
The Tea Party is a Canadian group from the exotic locales of Winsor, Ontatio and Montreal, Quebec. Lead singer is Jeff Martin, Jeff Burrows doing all the drums and stuff like that and Stuart Chatwood, he does just about everything. Yes, they have toured around the world and yes, been on Much Music's Intimate and Interactive. Yes, they have released more than one cd. First, they did an indie cd which is quite rare on the open market (hint: someone give this cd on me!), then their first big-break cd, Splendor Solis. The first track, 'The River' was the hit. Then a couple years later, 'The Edges of Twilight' came out. This is where me, as a fan comes in. 'Edges' was their real world-wide success album and got their name into the media. I mean, many groups have one hit then disappear, but the Tea Party had come back bigger and better. Then a year or two later, 'Alhambra' came out. All acoustic with only one new song on it, well, the 'Sister Awake Remix' wasn't acoustic...It was also supposed to be an interactive cd (ie. a computer game/program thingy), but I have yet to see it work. *pout* The next released album was 'Transmission'. This was a new image for the group, electronic and louder, more brassy. Still, it was (and still is) a success with the current crowd.
And that's the Tea Party to date. I have yet to see them in concert (please guys, play in my city!), but I'm hoping/praying for an Edgefest ticket this year. Their new cd, 'TRIPtych' came out in June 1999 and it's really good! Not gypsy-like as alledged to be like; rather a balance of electronic, traditional and exotic sounds. It's a cd well worth the price!
