Copy Cat?

Ok, I don't know about you all out there, but I'm a little tired of hearing that N Sync is mearly just copying off of the Backstreet Boys. No! I heard a interview on MTV and they had a little chat with BSB's Kevin. They asked him what he thinks about all the boy bands and everything and he said that "Well, when one group hits it big everyone else sees this and tries to get in on the fame and just does like they and it's fustrating" (I have to say this isn't an exact word for word quote but he did say this to the best of my knowledge or maybe in just other words) Ok, that's frustrating. You are constantly hearing "Oh well, N Sync is just another boy band". Why do people say that? Is there only allowed to be one boy pop group? They are just in a business trying to make it just like everyone else and I find it kinda insulting that they say this just about the "boy bands." How come no one has ever said "Oh, well Aerosmith is just another hair rock band, or Hank Willaims is just another country singer?" I mean does anyone else notice this?

For all of us who are really big fans of either of the groups knows and can tell that there is a difference between the two. Other people who don't know them and the music are too quick to stereotype them, but for us fans we can certainly tell a massive difference between their sound, look, performance, etc. I mean I'm not trying to sound like I hate the BSB, because I don't. I mean I give them much snaps for dumping Lou, but some of the things they do or say gets on my nerves. I mean they're saying that stuff and what did N Sync say when asked that question? "Yeah, well, there's room for everybody"(Joey, N Sync TV) To me that seems a little more classy and respective.

If five guys with a new sound is what constitutes as a "boy band" then aren't you too just copying off of oh,lets say...Boyz 2 Men, Take That, The New Kids On The Block? Hmmmm? I mean everyone is going to be copying off of someone.

This is very true. I'm not sure if everyone knows the story of Lou Pearlman and how he came to do this. After seeing New Kids on the Block in concert, Lou saw that the boy band pop scene drew in a lot of money. He purposely put together a group to mimick the New Kids, be just like them and pull in lots-o-money. Once he found 5 dumb kids to dance, and sometimes sing, he called them...The Backstreet Boys. Specifically designed to copy the New Kids.

Like I said, I find it all a little annoying and I find myself defending them all the time cause I hate hearing that. N Sync has had plenty of ideas which were 100% N Sync originals. What about the Christmas album, or doing a movie. I don't anyone else doing those. In fact for all of us who have been to an N Sync concert you know that one of the major highlights of the show is that they fly during Sailing. Right? Right. Well, you all may not know this but the BSB have just recentlty added something to their show. Guess what it is? No really, guess. FLYING. Hmmmm that's very interesting isn't it? So the question again is who's copying who? It doesn't matter who came first it's how you perform together as a group, and just make music which is what you love to do. Personnaly I think that it's really just a case of feeling threated by someone elses success or even a case of not wanting to share the wealth. N Sync is just doing what they want and need to do. So in conclusion, BSB get over yourself!!
