Carly: Where’s Michael?

Sonny: Oh, he was getting restless, so Leticia took him for a walk.

Carly: I can’t believe I overslept so much. I had a really hard time last night trying to sleep, you know?

Sonny: It’ll get easier. You hungry?

Carly: Kill for a cup of coffee.

Sonny: How about herbal tea?

Carly: Joking. Really. I’m a good girl. I won’t touch caffeine when I’m pregnant. Do you have any doughnuts, though?

Sonny: I’ll make you an omelet.

Carly: No, sit down. What are you? You going to monitor my food habits now?

Sonny: I'm offering you...to make you breakfast. Do you have a problem with that?

Carly: Well, you’re not my keeper.

Sonny: Ok. You want to p out, go ahead and pout, but can you get done with your pouting by the time Michael’s back, because you got to remember the rule.

Carly: What’s the rule?

Sonny: We don’t fight in front of the kids.

Carly: Well, then, we shouldn’t be living together because we don’t get along.

Sonny: You want cheese in that omelet?

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Carly: Mmm. this is...oh. Did you put mushrooms in this?

Sonny: Sauteed.

Carly: Mmm.Mmm. You know what? I tried that once. They came out like these pieces of carpet lint.

Sonny: Well, you got to know what you’re doing.

Carly: Oh. Yeah. It’s true, and you do. I was wondering...did you ever think maybe you could be, like, a short-order cook or something? I think you’d be really successful at it.

Sonny: The food service industry does not interest me.

Carly: That’s too bad, because it’d probably be a lot...a lot safer for your friends, you know?

Sonny: Yeah, don’t forget to clear your plate, huh?

Carly: I'll get to it when I get to it. What do you have there, you know? Are those coffee warehouse invoices?

Sonny: Well, I don’t really think it’s any of your business what I’m doing right now.

Carly: Why don’t you calm down? I’m just saying, you know, I could help you. I used to help Jason all the time.

Sonny: Well, you know what? I don’t think Jason is a subject that we want to discuss at this moment. What about you?

Carly: Why is that?

Sonny: Hmm?

Carly: You feel embarrassed? I mean, are you still feeling guilty about betraying him again and everything?

Sonny: What is that supposed to mean?

Carly: You know.

Sonny: No, I don’t know.

Carly: Well, the reason that Jason found that guy that A.J. paid to burn down your warehouse..it’s because he wanted to help me. And you took that information and used it to get what you want, once again, so...

Sonny: Jason asked me to take care of you and Michael, and I will.

Carly: Fine. Okay? But, Sonny, we don’t have to live with you for you to take care of us. And as a matter of fact, I think we’d be a lot better off at the Brownstone, you know, because Michael wouldn’t need a guard and we wouldn’t fight all the time.

Sonny: Michael had a guard most of the time he lived with Jason. It never bothered you. This was your home. I’m giving it back to you. Why can’t you enjoy it?

Carly: Why?

Sonny: Yeah.

Carly: Because it was my home with Jason.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

[Sonny sighs.]

Sonny: We both know why Jason is gone and why you’re here right now. We made the situation, Carly. We have to learn to live with it. Now, uh...I’m going to take care of things at the warehouse. Francis went to the Quartermaines’ to pick up the rest of your things. He should be back here in a little while. All right? Don’t forget to clear the table.

Carly: Mm-hmm.

Sonny: Thank you.

Carly: Bye, dear. .

Sonny: Uh-huh.

Carly: See you.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Carly: You know what? I think you can just put them...just put them down over here and I’ll just get to it as soon as I get a chance...oh, God.

Sonny: Ok, wait.

Carly: Sorry.

Sonny: You know what? Hold on.

Carly: Hey.

Sonny: What’s going on? What’s going on here?

Carly: Oh, I just...I just..What? What do you mean? Nothing’s going on. Everything’s good. You’re home early, aren’t you?

Sonny: Yeah, I am, but I work fast when I’m not disturbed. What...what’s this on my desk?

Carly: They’re just the fabric swatches, you know, wallpaper samples and stuff. I decided I wanted to redecorate Micahel’s room, and so I called the store and I asked Johnny to go down and pick up the stuff.

Sonny: Pick...?

Johnny: You told me to keep her happy.

Sonny: Well, I...I didn’t tell you to do errands with her.

Carly: Hey, don’t get upset at him.

Sonny: Well...

Carly: I just...he was being nice, you know?

Sonny: Do me a favor, okay? Go back into the...into the hall, and your job is to guard, not decorate my apartment with her.

Carly: Hey, Johnny, thank you very much. And I will see you later, okay?

Sonny: Ok. Carly?

Carly: Hmm?

Sonny: Ok, you got to understand something, ok?

Carly: Mm-hmm.

Sonny: This is my desk.

Carly: Oh, I know. Oh, I’m really sorry. You know what? Let me get these big heavy books up off your desk.

Sonny: No, no, no, no. Don’t. Leave...Leave it alone. I mean, I don’t...I don’t know what’s going on here. Santa’s toy bag explode in my living room?

Carly: Children are messy, you know? I would have thought that you’d realized that by now.

Sonny: Michael didn’t do this. You did.

Carly: I’m just trying to make the place more comfortable for my son and I, which reminds me actually...I was thinking of redoing the sofa down here in these primary colors, red and...

Sonny: No, wait. Time-out, okay? No. Nice try, but it’s not going to work.

Carly: What?

Sonny: I don’t....

Carly: I'm just trying to make this place comfortable for my son. If that’s a problem for you, then...

Sonny: You...

Carly: You know, maybe we should...

Sonny: You want me to throw you out, so you think by tossing kids toys under my feet, I’m going to get sick of you and send you to Bobbie’s?

Carly: I'm sorry for the mess. But you know, Graciela can pick it up...If she ever gets here. The woman is the most overpaid and underworked housekeeper I’ve ever known in my life. She’s worthless. Let her earn her salary for once.

[Knock on door]

Johnny: Bobbie Spencer.

Bobbie: Thank you. I just came from the Quartermaines’.

Carly: Yeah. Welcome to paradise.

Bobbie: So what’s going on?

Sonny: Well...

Carly: Yeah.

Sonny: Carly has accepted my offer to move in with me.

Bobbie: You have to be kidding.

Sonny: What?

Carly: I said the same thing, but, you know, big bad Sonny just won’t listen to anyone.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Sonny: I know you care about Michael and your daughter, but the decision is made, and it’s final.

Carly: You see what I mean? He won’t listen. He won’t listen to anyone.

Bobbie: Sonny, I have no intention of trying to tell you how to live your life, but exactly what is it about this arrangement that appeals to you?

Sonny: Well, you know, Michael and my kid are going to be living in my home, where I know they’ll be safe and loved.

Bobbie: And Carly?

Sonny: She will learn to get along with me.

Bobbie: This is about the new baby, isn’t it? Are you afraid that Carly will deny you access?

Sonny: Well, you know, I mean, the thought did occur.

Bobbie: If Carly and Michael were to move into the Brownstone with me, I guarantee that won’t be a problem.

Sonny: How?

Bobbie: You could come over and visit anytime. Just call and come over, no restrictions.

Carly: Wait a minute. Do I not get a say in this?

Bobbie: No, at this moment you don’t.

Sonny: Ok, you know what? It’s a generous offer, but Carly is unpredictable. I’ve seen how she uses people, and that is not going to happen to Michael or my kid.

Bobbie: I don’t understand, If you mistrust her so much, why have her live here with you?

Sonny: Before we can be parents, we have to learn to cooperate with each other. That’s why she’s here, and that’s why she’s staying.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Sonny: Carly and I, we need to learn how to work with each other and make decisions, keep our tempers intact. Living here is the best way I know how.

Bobbie: What about Michael?

Sonny: Well, he’s going to have his old room...decorated by his mother. Leticia’s here, and Edward Quartermaine isn’t.

Carly: Yeah, but you are.

Sonny: You see? It’s going to...it’ll take a little while, but we’ll get it done.

Bobbie: Sonny, I can understand why you might be a little wary of Carly, but aren’t you risking making things worse instead of better?

Sonny: Let me tell you something. Worse was everybody lining up for another custody fight. That’s not going to happen now. Carly, Michael, the baby, and I...We will all live together. [the telephone rings] Excuse me. Hello. Oh, hold on. I have to take this upstairs.

Carly: Do you believe this? He actually forced me to eat an omelet this morning. He’ll try to control everything that I do.

Bobbie: Hmm. He’s determined. I’ll give him that.

Carly: Yeah. Well, this is worse than being at the Quartermaines’. At least there I had some hope of escape.

Bobbie: Oh, honey, there’s always hope. Now wait a minute. Actually, this might not be as bad as you think.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Bobbie: Well, it’s obvious that you’re already on Sonny’s nerves, so...I give this arrangement a month and he’ll be begging me to take you and Michael off his hands.

Carly: He doesn’t trust me to manage my pregnancy. It doesn’t matter how messy I am, he’s not going to let me go.

Bobbie: Well, then maybe you’d better ride it out.

Carly: Oh, yeah? You think I should stay willingly?

Bobbie: You’re comfortable. You have people around to help. Honey, it’s not a bad deal.

Carly: You know what? I should have known. I should have known that you would check out when the going gets tough.

Bobbie: Oh, could we please not go there again?

Carly: Well, mother, I’m your daughter, and my son and I are being held captive by a lunatic, and you think that’s ok.

Bobbie: I have offered Sonny an out. At this point, there is nothing more I can do.

Carly: You could put pressure on him to let us go.

Bobbie: Carly, I didn’t create this situation. You did. Now, I am here for you and I will try to help, but I am not going to let you make it my job to try to solve this for you.

[Sonny comes back down.]

Sonny: I’m sorry, Bobbie, I know you came here out of love for your family, and I just want you to know anytime you want to come back, the door’s open.

Bobbie: Thank you. You tell Michael I stopped by.

Carly: If I think of it.

Bobbie: I sure hope you know what you’re doing.

[Bobbie leaves.]

Sonny: Ok, I got to...I got to go to the warehouse. Could you have this place, you know, just organized or something by the time I get back, cleaned up, whatever you want to do?

Carly: Or what? You’re going to kick me out?

Sonny: Carly, if I had my choice, I wouldn’t be on the same planet with you, but I don’t, and neither do you. We’re stuck with each other. Get used to it.
