Public and Private Self

Full of pain a lonely soul sighs

While outside the body cries

It weeps for all its sins done

For its other half that made it one

Long ago, it made a friend

That became a lover, so quick to its end

A little flicker, then a flame so wild

A tear drop fell and the passion turned mild

A waterfall of pain and sorrow

Love today, hate tomorrow

A scarred heart and a spirit left alone

Left forever in purgatory to roam

Coat me in your immature jeers

Weaknesses turn to hate and fears

Wrap you insults around me tight

As I ignore your attempts to fight

In my mind, the battle strives on

Between what is right and what is wrong

In the end, everyone will loose

This is the time, now you must choose

Ignore my presence or accept what you see

True maturity is not judging me

Different tastes but deep down all the same

Act you age, end this childish game
