At Redwall Abbey, the good woodlanders are preparing a great Abbot's Jubilee Feast, for Abbot Mortimer. All of the woodlanders are welcome, as they settle down for a night of great feasting. But nobeast knows of the danger lurking in Mossflower.

Cluny the Scourge, some nightmare used to frighten naughty dibbuns has come to Mossflower Woods. He and his crew of merciless vermin have come, and on the way, they spot a great prize, worthy of a fortune: Redwall Abbey. Cluny is a giant rat, larger than any other rat alive, and has a whiplike tale; perfect for enemies. He was said to have lost an eye in a battle with a pike, a battle where he won. Cluny and his horde are determined to gain entrance to Redwall Abbey.

When the Redwallers realize the danger they are facing, nobeast has any idea what to do, but young Matthias steps up. Matthias is a young orphan mouse living at Redwall. He gathers up fellow abbeydwellers and woodlanders in an attempt to stop Cluny. While the other woodlanders are preparing for battle, Matthias has a dream in which Martin, the guiding spirit of Redwall comes to him. He goes on a what seems impossible quest to find Martin's famed sword.

While the woodlanders are preparing for war, Cluny stole the famous tapestry of Martin the Warrior. The Redwallers must find a way to get their prized tapestry back as well as drive Cluny from the land!

Brian Jacques has created a masterpiece! The reader finds themselves lost in a battle of good and evil, a battle of life and death. Come join Matthias in the search for Martin's sword, join the woodlanders as they strive to defeast the evil vermin scum. Redwall is a suspenseful pice of literature and brings out he world of Redwall abbey and Mossflower Woods.
