Crystalis

Crystalis was one of the earliest action/rpgs ever released for the NES. The combat takes place in real time & doesn't rely on menus or a separate fighing arena. Much like Zelda, where you can dodge enemies & attack them with a sword. But it manages to remain an rpg in the fact that you have to always upgrade various types of equipment. Along with keeping up your level all while a crazy & twisted story is unfolded before you. And the game isn't bad either. The real time fights coupled with your basic platform controls (such as jumping & so) definitely makes this a fast paced & more interesting role playing game than others before it. As in any good rpg there is plenty of depth & little extras that keep things fresh. Not to mention a guided direction while still being able to explore the massive world. Much better than that Saga Frontier, ew. It's a pretty good game for the NES & is one of the best RPGs you're ever going to find for it.
