NFL Blitz 2000

Hey, didn't I play this game already? Though NFL Blitz 2000 has made it's jump to the Dreamcast you just can't help but feel jipped in a way. The graphics though featuring 60 fps & hi-res mode, polygon-wise still look about the same as the Playstation's graphics. I really can't identify any detail they added to enhance this version at all. And I know you're looking at a football field most of the time, but they could have added a flashier presentation & maybe some offside players/coaches to give it a better & more realistic look. This is also trivial but they only show four different cheerleaders inbetween each game on the hints page. I know the Dreamcast can handle more than that & perhaps some more gals could have kept the male gamers sitting down a little more & playing the game. The control is relatively simple & fun in a quick game. As such is true with most arcade based games. But if you intend to play it alot, the whole premise gets boring very quickly. And soon you'll be wishing for more plays or anything else to liven the game up. This brings me to another point. Why do interceptions happen so frequently? Nearly everytime I played, both me & my brothers went through this terrible game of handing the ball back & forth. Come on, 12 interceptions in a 2:00 minute period, isn't that ridiculous? Anyhows, the codes you can randomly put in before the start of the game is what can really make this title fun. My personal fav is the "No 1st-Downs". Let me tell you, it makes for quite an interesting game. Too bad these couldn't have been normal options in the game. I also want to mention that even though it says 2000, you're not getting any new rosters or anything. It's an arcade game for crying out loud. It's just another way to sell the same game again. Football & Blitz fans, be sure to rent this title before buying it. Because it's definitely not for everybody.

Category Rating How & Why?
Graphics 8 Smooth 60 fps & Hi-Res Graphics / The Presentation could have been Flashier / Why didn't they add more than four Cheerleaders?
Music 6 Commentating & Trash Talk gets Old Quick / What Soundtrack?
Gameplay 7 Arcade Style Football / some Quick Fun, but gets Tiresome / Interceptions seem to happen alot / The Codes can actually make the game more Fun & Interesting (such as No 1st-Downs)
Innovation 7 It's Basically Blitz with 2000 tacked on the end / For a Simple Arcade Game, the Graphics & Options should have had more to them / Season Mode & all the other Standards are Included
Replay 7 Again, It's a Laugh for the First 20 minutes / But the whole thing gets old quickly / Fans of the Arcade Version will definitely want to have this Home Version

Overall 7.0
