Cannon Spike
Cannon Spike turned out to be a bit of a disappointment for me. The game has great graphics, a wonderful cast, and even an acceptable story with multiple endings. But the game play never sucked me in. For the most part you shoot at an onslaught of enemies. Unfortunately there's next to nothing in terms of strategy involved and very little pizzazz to grab your attention. The arenas are only one to two screens big. Meaning you have a very limited amount of space to maneuver around in. In the end the game just feels too repetitive and ultimately forgettable. I really expected something with a lot more intensity and fiery action from the shooting masters at Psykio. Oh well, I guess they all can't be winners. Cannon Spike is worth a rental at best. Otherwise, stick to DC Gunbird 2 or PSX Metal Slug X.
