Carrier

Man, I actually had some high hopes for Carrier, but after playing Dreamcast Resident Evil this game just doesn't compare. It actually reminds me alot of the first Resident Evil on the Playstation in terms of design. But Carrier can't carry that creepy atmosphere that has defined the RE series. Nearly everything here has been "borrowed" from the classic RE games which includes control scheme, the Male & Female leads, similar Monsters and Bosses, laughable Voice-overs, and the list goes on. You just can't shake that feeling of deja-vu. I really was expecting more of Carrier, and Jaleco should have done more to define Carrier as game on it's own merits. By the way the hidden secret is just plain stupid unless you're a gal-gamer. Yep you get to see the Male lead running around in shorts and little else (wha? nothing for the guys?). At least the game will hold you until the next Capcom Survival/Horror title.

Category Rating How & Why?
Graphics 7 Good FrameRate and Lightsourcing / Cinemas are Okay / Atmosphere not as Convincing as Resident Evil / Monster-Designs seem a little Cliche
Music 7 No In-Game Music except for Key Events / Soundeffects are Decent and Clear / Voice-Acting leaps between Good and Laughable
Gameplay 6 Resident Evil-Sytle Controls and Gameplay / Puzzles are Mostly Dumb / Never feels Intense or like a real Survival ordeal / Switches between Male and Female Leads
Innovation 6 Carrier is a Resident Evil Knock-Off that doesn't go too far to distiquish itself / Game coulda been Spiced Up a bit with some Varied Action and Smarter Puzzles...
Replay 6 Game will Hold Survival/Horror Enthusiasts like myself, but it is by no means a classic / About 6-8 Hours Worth of Gameplay & 1 Goofy Secret / Jaleco can do better than this...

Overall 6.4
