Zombie Revenge
The idea of a House of the Dead side story seemed like a good thing on paper. But the end product completely missed the expectations of most fans. I myself originally envisioned something along the lines of Resident Evil, but what we got was a cheap Dynamite Cop knock-off with the Zombie theme tacked on. For the most part you're shooting at small armies of the undead. Occasionally using some hand-to-hand combat to fight when you run out of ammo. And at the end of each stage is some wierd boss that must be dealt with. Did I mention there's a pointless time limit as well? Along the way you'll find a nice variety of weapons to use and there are some hidden areas to explore. But these are used as only minor parts of the game. Too bad, these little niches could have really changed the feel of the game if they were exploited. The game itself is pretty easy & won't take long to beat. Funny, just like Dynamite Cop. They added some modes from DC's House of the Dead 2, but they're really gimmicky and add very little to overall replay value of this game. The Original Mode has you blasting through the game collecting food stuffs for your VMU character (which can in turn be used in the game). But this whole thing seems out of place and is pretty useless considering how easy the game is in the first place. Zombie Revenge is a Rental at Best. And this type of game is a far cry away from the House of the Dead series & even those old side-scrolling beat'em ups that it tries to mimic.
