Art of Fighting

Most of SNK's  games are enjoyable experiences. But I definitely wouldn't call Art of Fighting one of them. There's alot of things wrong here. First of all is the glaring fact that you can only play as two characters, Ryo and Robert Garcia. And if you've ever played a King of Fighters title, you know these aren't the coolest characters of the bunch. The game's plot proceeds as a journey to find Ryo's kidnapped sister. As such you visit various locales fighting a bunch a goofy enemies trying to discover her whereabouts. Battles run pretty slow and the moves aren't all that reactive. In fact you'll probably have readjust your timing. The specials are pulled off like most other fighters involving SFII-type Fireball and Dragon Punch motions. So there's nothing new or exciting here. After a number slow and frustrating battles, the game comes to an end and the credits start to roll. Leaving you with a bad taste and the wish for something more.
