Exo Squad
I doubt many of you remember ExoSquad. But just for reference, it was a fairly entertaining sci-fi cartoon that aired in the early 90's on Fox and then on USA. The premise of the story was a war between Humans and the NeoSapiens (whom were made by Humans for slavery, but then revolted). The two races would wage war in their cool ExoSuits (the robotic armor you see the soldiers wear).
You could only get the game through a special promotion back in the early 90's. By mailing in so many UPC codes with a small fee to Playmates. And in return you'd get the game. So the title is a little hard to come by today. But that doesn't necessarily make it a good game.
The graphics are quite impressive. But when you get down to playing you'll quickly realize something's not right. The side-scrolling stages are just too easy for their long length. In fact it gets down right repetitive disposing of brainless enemies as you slowly trot down the path. The camera angles of the into-screen shooting parts simply ruins these stages. Your character often blocks the view and the onscreen objects shift all over the screen as you try to move up and down or left and right. It makes aiming nearly impossible and avoiding incoming objects terribly difficult. Nothing beats conquering an easy stage and then hitting a ridiculously hard stage (and it's only hard due to the mind-warping graphics and bad camera angles). Some more testing should have been done before this puppy got released.
Fans of the original cartoon series might want to try it out. But the Genesis ExoSquad game is hardly worth the money or effort to find.
